    Worth every penny
    Pros

-A great aid in your visual scan
-Finds traffic conflicts before Flight Following!

    Cons

-Eats batteries after 6 hours (but works with rechargeable AAs)

    General Comments

GREAT investment! It picks up 85% of the traffic and 95% of traffic that is an actual treat. Really helps my scan by allowing me to concentrate my scan on the altitude displayed and by making me scan behind. Since it doesn't give you relative direction it prompts your scan rather than tells you exactly where it is, although you can tell from the trend which general direction the target it. It is amazing the amount of traffic I didn't notice until the PCAS advisory. Has beaten flight followings alerts by at least 30 seconds every time!! I never realized how small a Cherokee looks at 5 miles!

    Small and very useful
    Pros

Very nice, small, and portable - fits in every flight bag. Very easy to use. Alert-Beep is loud enough to be heard even without hooking up the headset. Long battery life on NiMH batteries (I run it without any cables, which makes using it even easier and lowers the threshold to bring it along. All I bring along is the unit and a set of spare batteries). Very affordable compared to XRX model at about a third of the latter's price. Very useful even when flying under IFR or flight following to double check and follow the controller's traffic alerts. Also very useful on low use airfields. Although it does not indicate direction (by design), it is still a very useful aid in visually identifying traffic, because position can be estimated from closure rate, altitude (hemispherical rule), distance, etc.
The durability of the unit seems ok. It feels solid. It endures prolonged sunlight and heat with no problems.
I love this little box and will always have it with me. It is amazing how much more traffic I am able to see with this unit than without it.

    Cons

The unit comes with very useful anti-slip rubber feet and Velcro, which are both useful. For rental aircraft, however, I wish it also came with some kind of mounting bracket to clip it to the glareshield, because I am reluctant to glue Velcro to all the glareshields in the FBO's fleet.

The manual states a minimum distance the unit should be mounted from the magnetic compass. This distance is not conservative enough. We mounted the unit about 5-6 inches from the compass and it still deflected it 5-10 degrees. I recommend to mount it well clear of the compass. At least 12 or more inches to be safe.

    General Comments

Not really a Con, but something to be aware of: All traffic alert systems have the problem that they cannot pick up all the traffic, mostly because some pilots choose not to operate a transponder or for lack of interrogator coverage at low altitudes (e.g. helicopters or Ag airplanes). I was in both of these situations a couple of times. So visual scanning is still a must.

However, due to the portable nature of the unit, it also sometimes has problems picking up some lower-flying small aircraft (possibly with dirty transponder antennas and weak emitters) directly below your own aircraft. These kinds of aircraft (having their transponder antennas on their bellies) emit very weak signals directly upward. Also, because this unit usually sits on the glareshield, it's reception downward is attenuated by your own aircraft's fuselage. In practice, however, such traffic is usually not a factor (flying far below you) and if it does get closer, its signal will eventually be strong enough to be picked up.

works as advertised. Tried it out on a road trip and was suprised to see that it was reliable. Used it on the last 2 flights (1.2 and 2.7). Found traffic without an issue (one flight was in a TIS equiped) and it kept up with the system.

Very compact, easy to see, sits securely on glare shield, helps improve awareness of other aircraft in the area, runs on AA batteries or DC adapter. Simple to use, can easily use in different aircraft as no installation required.

    Cons

Does not indicate location of other aircraft, just the range and relative height to your position.

    Pros

I've flown with it a couple times now and it works as advertised. I understand that passive devices may not see all traffic , but the MRXA provides useful data in the cockpit, e.g. It was reassuring yesterday when ATC called traffic closing 1,000-ft below me and the unit confirmed their call. I never saw the other plane, but watched it converge and depart 1,000-ft below me on the unit. Very nice.

I haven't had it long enough to give it a reliability rating. With regard to durability it will need to be treated with respect; especially the antenna connection. This is true of most avionics. I'm looking for hard shell case for my flight bag.

    Pros

Small and easy to fit in my flight bag. Display is easy to read, and warning beeps are loud enough to hear in the cockpit. Easy to use and set different ranges for warnings. Works as advertised picking up many planes I would not have seen on my own.

    Cons

Rubber "feet" only kept the unit still for me near the center of the glare shield, which is closer than the recommended 2' from the magnetic compass. The curve of the glare shield near the edge of the cockpit was too large for the rubber feet to work. First unit did not work and I had to return it.

    General Comments

The first unit I received worked for about 10 minutes and then stopped picking up anything. I knew it was not working when I returned to my home airport and it did not pick up any of the other planes in the traffic pattern. Sporty's swapped out the unit with no hassle, and the second one works great. I flew with it the first time this weekend over a 50 NM course and there was rarely a time that it was not picking up other aircraft. I do wish it had an indicator to tell you which direction to look for the aircraft, but the next higher model does that. The unit had me scanning for planes it could detect that were still outside of my visual range. I definitely saw planes, though not a threat, that I would not have seen otherwise. I did not rate durability or reliability since I've only had the unit a couple of weeks and flown with it once.
