SLOW. I bought this as a lower cost alternative to the Garmin 696. I have updated it to the latest software but it still will crash from time to time. I will be returning this and saving for the Garmin 696. It's just not reliable enough for me. Touch screen is extremely slow. It crashes when there is a lot of weather on the screen. You get a lot for the money but I want something that works all the time. The change fuel tanks and other warnings dont always work either. The airport diagrams have to be calibrated after you land. uggg |

The pocket plates are great for orientation on approaches, especially good for training, since I am in the process of getting my instrument rating. The weather is very clear. For the money it is what I expected. The updates for the data base and pocket plates are very resonable. The background map of Hawaii was horrible because the resolution of the background map was poor. If I moved out to the 200+ nm range, it was okay, but my trips are about 50nm between islands, at which point the islands look like square blobs and it was tough to tell what island I was looking at or where I was - certainly of no use as a GPS unit. My "no" recommendation is for Hawaii use. |
