The new S-8 has many of the same features as the S-40, except the main support is located out of the way and behind your head. Provides the extra head room needed for taller pilots. Ideal for cockpits where space is an issue. Features gel-filled ear seals, the M-90 electret microphone and a hook and loop cord strap that doubles as a flashlight holder. The S-8 has a five-year warranty. Passive NRR 24db, 14 oz. mono. Made in the USA.

Velcro strap that goes over the top of the head is a little cheesy

General Comments

This was the only behind-the-head headset that I could find on the market for GA pilots. Besides the fact that it clamps so tightly its uncomfortable after 45 mins, it's a nice headset. I will probably try to bend the metal strap open some to make it more comfortable, at the expense of less noise attenuation

Appeared to be well built.
Definately gave me more headset to canopy clearance, which was my desire.

Cons

The spring which holds the ear pieces together is way to strong and I was unable to wear the headset for more than an hour before it started causing enough pain to distract me from my flying duties.

General Comments

I would like the headset if there were a way to adjust the ammount of force it sqeezes your head with. for now I will return it and make do with the S-20.
