    Pros

I used this style of bug in a FTD, found it to be a real benefit in a busy cockpit. Easy to use and install. Just set the red bug to the MDA or DH and the green and yellow indicate 500' and 200' to go, respectively.

    Cons

    Seems a bit pricey.

    General Comments

Once you use this on an approach, you'll want one in every aircraft you fly.

I haven't had the bug very long, so I can't comment pro or con on it's durability.

Looks fine in a well protected case.

    Cons

It was too small! I need the 2 7/8" version. It might be handy to know what size instruments were fitted to which aircraft types. I've flown GA aircraft for over 30 years and all the altimeters looked the same to me. I got the guys in my avionics workshop to measure the instrument installed in a similar type to mine. Sadly he got it wrong. I didn't know until I offered it up that the one I ordered was 1/8th inch too narrow!

Great approach reminder that's hard to miss. Easy to install, but you do have to measure your instrument face accurately before ordering.

    Cons

A bit pricey for what it is.

One of the best items I've found to help students/rated pilots maintain awareness of altitude during instrument operations. My company uses them in our Learjet and Beechcraft aircraft.

Check the diameter of both altimeters. Ours had one 2 3/4 and the other altimeter was 2 7/8

    Pros

I had nothing but trouble with this product.

    Cons

Difficult to size correctly on the instrument. The sticky back came off the glass very easily. The first one I received was broken and had to be sent back. Even when I did get a good one of the right size, rotating it around the bezel was very stiff and practically unusable.

    General Comments

I ended up going back to the simple suction pointer and this worked very well. Sporty's gave me credit on the transaction so I was happy with that, but I would not recommend this product.

Honestly, I don't know how I would have gotten my IFR rating without it. You need to remember so many things--setting this made for one less item for me to write down while flying blind. And its almost critical to have on approach to your Decision Altitude. Just having it in cruise flight is helpful too.
