You don't need a book; everything you need to know is on the E6B somewhere. It's light, inexpensive and easy to use. I'd recommend it to any student. I bought this one to replace the one I had; it was borrowed by my son, never saw it again. I just got an electronic one with my Sporty's IFR course but haven't used it yet. ConsNo down side. I buy everything from Sporty's now as long as the price is competitive because of the 1 year money back/product exchange option. I've gotten stuck with some real expensive stuff from others that I didn't get to use until after the time ran out (typically 30 to 90 days) General CommentsInexpensive enough to easily replace. |

I'm a serious flight simmer, (health keeps me on the ground) and spend 20-30 hours a week flying my Cessna U206G all over central Alaska. Very surprisingly, this computer is identical to the one listed in my (real) Cessna handbook, and performs all the functions a pilot would ever need. I like that it comes in a clear plastic case, and the instruction book follows the instructions in my Cessna handbook to the letter. The instructions are very clear and easy to understand, and the computer is therefore very easy to learn and become comfortible with. It is just the right size to be managable in-flight too. I use it on every one of my flights, since my flight sim has very real characteristics including allowing computations for fuel consumption, wind drift, load calculations, distance, ETA's, etc. The side scales are great for helping me lay out a flight course on flight maps too. This computer fulfills my flight needs perfectly, as it will for other flight simmers and regular pilots. I believe, with reasonable care, the composite material will last a long time, and should it become worn out it can easily be replaced at Sporty's again. I also think the price is great, and certainly way below the value of the data that can be entered and collected from the movable scales. ConsI have no negative comments on this great product.
