Several people suggested this book for people interested in instrument flying, and I think it was well worth the time to read. Definitely keep in mind that this book is not an introductory instruction book, as it does not dive into many of the simple explanations/definitions that someone would need if they've never been exposed to the language of instrument flying. However, I've done enough reading on the subject to have a working knowledge of IFR flying, so I was able to enjoy the book without getting bogged down with unknown terms or procedures. I'm an instrument-pilot-wannabe since I only have my private. This book does do an excellent job of exposing the reader to what an ideal IFR training session would look like. I can't wait to start my IFR training and I hope that my experience will come close to what I've been exposed to in this book!

The diagrams in the book are fairly poor quality. Image resolution is fairly bad and that makes it difficult to read some of the charts at first glance. Also, this book would absolutely benefit from some color images. Nothing but black & white charts/images even when the approach plates have color shading. Again, this would be very nice to have, but it only takes away from the book slightly. Also, there are several typographical and grammatical errors in the book. Granted, I'm not the best writer/speller in the world, but I would expect a basic editorial pass to catch most of these types of errors. Just minor annoyances in my opinion. Overall, it's a great book.

Well worth the time to read (coming from someone who hopes to get an instrument rating some time soon).

Outstanding book that every instrument student (and pilot) should own. A classic!
