Bose® A20® Aviation Headset with Bluetooth (battery powered, helicopter connector) Bose® A20® Aviation Headset with Bluetooth (battery powered, helicopter connector)
Rated 4.77777777778/5 based on 9 customer reviews
Product description: Increased noise reduction. Greater comfort. Bluetooth® connectivity.Bose was the first to introduce active noise reduction headsets to aviation more than 20 years ago, forever changing the way pilots fly. Now, the Bose A20 Aviation Headset introduces an entirely new standard. It is quite simply the quietest, most technologically advanced aviation headset ever available from Bose. Features:• Significantly greater noise reduction—we were simply amazed at how quiet this headset is• Improved level of comfort—1/3rd less clamping force than most aviation headsets• Clear audio—famous Bose quality is evident in the speakers and microphone• Bluetooth communications interface—connect your phone for hands-free calling• Auxiliary audio input—now passengers can listen to music • Priority switching—you decide which audio source you want to hear (intercom, music, phone)• Made in the USA—meets or exceeds all TSO standardsThe ergonomic control module features independent volume controls. Runs for over 45 hours on just 2 AA batteries. Weighs just 12 oz., includes carrying case, five year warranty. Bose’s best noise reduction and comfort ever.Bose engineers have discovered a new approach to sense more of the noise in any cockpit, constantly measuring it with microphones both inside and outside each earcup. Sophisticated electronics work separately with each microphone signal to compare the noise with the sound you want to hear. Then, instant by instant, the noise is reduced with a more accurate “cancelling” signal. At the same time, Bose’s new proprietary ear cushions help provide improved passive noise reduction and a more comfortable fit. An exclusive design allows more room for your ears without increasing earcup size. Distribution of weight throughout the headset and choice of materials adds to the comfort, and the A20 Aviation Headset also has one-third less clamping force than most others. You can wear this headset for hours—and maybe even forget you have it on.Auxiliary audio input with priority switching. There’s a new Bluetooth communications interface with integrated sidetone technology. This Bose exclusive technology lets you hear your own voice more naturally when talking on your Bluetooth mobile phone, even when not connected to your intercom. A new auxiliary audio input allows you to connect another external audio source, such as a portable GPS or traffic warning system. Priority switching gives you more control over what you hear by providing two listening settings—mixed (intercom signal mixed with the aux signal) and prioritized (aux signal mutes when intercom signal is present). Passengers and pilots both can select their own setting to match their preferences. It’s the clear audio you need—with more options you want.Multiple configurations available. The Bose A20 Aviation Headset comes in several configurations, allowing you to adapt it to your preferences and aircraft. Choose from standard twin plugs, 6-pin aircraft-powered plug (LEMO) or helicopter plug. See related products tab below. Each complete headset comes with a smooth glide boom microphone and an inline control module featuring auxiliary audio input, audio prioritization, left/right volume control on/off switch and optional Bluetooth communications capability. In-box accessories include two AA batteries, a male-to-male 3.5mm aux-in adapter cable and a carrying case. New adapter cable for greater flexibility.A new adapter cable is available that lets you move your 6-pin, aircraft-powered Bose A20 to an airplane with standard twin plugs. $1100 for a headset that comes with a soft case that won't protect it from an impact, you would think that bose would give you something or at least offer something to protect your investment

    Pros

Works great right out of the box. Bluetooth is easy to set up and noise canceling works great

    Cons

I use the headset for helicopters and airplanes, they work great but i've had some issues when doing the run up's in a piper Aztec, works great in the Navajo or all the helicopters i fly but for some reason the Aztec is loud and the noise canceling doesn't work... After takeoff and in flight it works great

    General Comments

    Overall great!

blue tooth works only with high impediance mikes
no explanation in any advertising of the two issues above
noise reduction not good on helicopters, needs to state this

    General Comments

    Pros

    Extremely effective noise cancelling.
Bluetooth mobile telephone connection is superb

    Cons

Noise cancelling is almost too good.
    Pricey compared to Zulu Lightspeed

    General Comments

Never thought a headset could be TOO good, but the noise cancelling is soooo good that when I start my turbine helicopter I can't hear the engine at all! During flight the familiar sounds that tell me a little about whats happening (engine pitch, wind noise etc) are totally absent. Have got into the (good) habit of starting up with one cup off the ear - and check occasionally during flight, to make sure the engine is still running (though there may be other indications...). A pilot might miss a telltale sound such as bearing rumble or grinding noise. Bluetooth mobile connector is awesome...I can call people and they don't know I'm out of the office... ummm, not in flight though, because that would be illegal...
