    Active Noise Reduction (ANR)

    Active Noise Reduction (ANR)

Active Noise Reduction is a system of tiny microphones and speakers that listens to the ambient noise and electronically reduces it in the headset. ANR is particularly effective at cancelling low frequency noise (like engine noise,) and allows the headset to be both quieter and smaller than passive headsets. ANR headsets do require a power source, either battery or panel.

Really disappointed. i just ordered a Bose A20 to replace it
    Pros

    Good-looking and light, good features

    Cons

Continuous vibration in one ear(only noticeable in a quiet environment, but uncomfortable). Erratic battery connection. Ear-piercing noise when aux volume not muted, on some aircraft, engineer says it only happens with Zulus

    Pros

Comfortable, works well controlling noise in a Cessna 150/150, good communications intelligibility (on the ground I can only hear in one ear using hearing aids).

    Cons

Has the same low-frequency rumbling issue as the Bose headsets when a window is open on the ground.

    General Comments

Good hardware at a high price.

    Pros

    Function very well

    Good solid construction

    good sound

    Cons

Just didn't fit me very well.

High clamping force made them uncomfortable after about 20 minutes. Not painfully so, but enough to be annoying.

    General Comments

Great product if they fit you comfortably. I had been using a set of the original ZULU's and was hoping these would do well, but they just weren't as comfortable as the others Sennheiser S1's.

    Awesome Headset
    Pros

I've only used these on 2 flights so far, with a 2 hour flight being the longest. I wear glasses and they are very comfortable

    Cons

    A little on pricey side

    General Comments

I used enty level headsets until I bought this one. I flew with a friend who has a pair of Zulu's, and that is all it took.

    Bluetooth features

    Cons

    Short cord
    Battery life

    General Comments

One nice headset! The bluetooth setup for cell phone and music is seamless and I might add - a very nice feature for pilot and/or a passenger on longer flights. Have not tried the Boise A20 but the Zulu 2 has the features and is very comfortable and light. I could use another foot of cord for my plane and the battery life is short - otherwise, highly recommended.

    Great Headset!
    Pros

From the very first flight the change from a regular headset has been amazing. So quiet and comfortable compared to a conventional one. I did a radio check with the tower to see how the transmission was, and they came back and said it the clearest they had ever heard and were already talking about it in the tower before I asked them. They said there was absolutely no engine noise and it was hard to believe I was calling from a prop driven aircraft in flight. I had been thinking about buying an ANR headset for years, and when Lightspeed had this one on sale for $100 off list price, I finally took the plunge. My only regreat now is that I didn't by two while they were on sale!

    Pros

I need to get accustom to how quiet the airplane is. It really will be a learning experience.

    Cons

Sometimes I need to 'wake up' the Bluetooth on my iPhone. I think this is more of an iPhone thing then a Lightspeed issue (my car does the same thing).

    General Comments

I read every review for all of the premium brands. I did not have any issues with the sunglass pressure some people described. I really don't have any good complaints. Maybe the power button could be a little more reset so it can't accidentally turn on in my flight bag? I love them so far...

    Awesome Headset
    Pros

Stylish, modern, technologically advanced headset that is loaded with all the latest features. I consider the best bang for the buck. Quiet ANR with bluetooth features for hundreds less vs the competition.

    Cons

Slightly heavier than top rival competition. Although the weight is dispersed evenly and comfortable. Would highly recommend as a investment tool for any pilot.

    General Comments

Overall excellent product no complaints whatsoever!

    General Comments

This is my third different Lightspeed headset purchase and can not believe the quality of the Zulu2. As someone who makes a living with his hearing, (audio engineer) I appreciate the noise canceling capabilities of this unit, with the feature set being simply icing on the cake. Music via Bluetooth connectivity is great and keeps the clock pit clutter to a minimum. This should be your first headset choice for those who appreciate quality. You won't regret this purchase IMO!
