    The Pilot Pocket

The Pilot Pocket is an aviation product that enables a Bluetooth GPS or cell phone to be secured in the most optimal position in any cockpit. Most GPS holders sit loosely on the top surface of the glare shield, which keeps the important GPS status signal lights out of view. It can also be a challenge to stow a cell phone in the cockpit and yet have it accessible when needing to check the weather, refer to a checklist app or make a last minute call before taxiing. The Pilot Pocket can keep a Bluetooth GPS conveniently in view or a cell phone out of the way but still within easy reach.

    • Secures firmly to any smooth plastic or glass window surface with its 3 suction cup design. Each suction cup has a pull-off tab, making it easy to detach and reattach. It's perfect for airplane renters.

Using and setting this GPS up with an iphone/ipad is a breeze. The only complaint I have is the battery life could stand to last a little longer.

Simple to use. Does what is expected.

    Cons

Rubber dashboard mat ripped within the first month from normal usage of inserting and removing the unit for charging. This was very disappointing!

I'm using this with Foreflight on an iPad2(3G). I really wanted to avoid spending the $100 and just use the internal ipad GPS. However, I quickly found out how unreliable the internal GPS was. The Dual GPS has solved those problems and works seamlessly with Foreflight. I did have issues using it in-flight after I upgraded the ipad to IOS6. However, that was resolved after following the 'How to use the Dual GPS direct connection feature in ForeFlight' directions featured on ipadpilotnews.com. Now things work perfectly.

    Unreliable
    Pros

Satellite tracking seems to be good. Great iOS App - Dual Apps - for verifying connection works well.

    Cons

Bluetooth connection tends to be unreliable and often drops off in flight (used with Foreflight). Difficult to reconnect in-flight.
Battery life seems to be worst than Garmen GLO.

    Pros

Good battery life and easy pairing with my iPad.

    Cons

Was a little quirky when trying to pair with my iPhone 4S but after fiddling with it it paired. I think this is Apple issue and not a Dual issue as I have had similar problems with other Bluetooth devices with the 4S.

    General Comments

The Dual XGPS150A performed as expected and I'm happy with it.

If it doesn't sync to your iPad right off the bat, call tech service and get an RMA.. My first one was bad.. Worked one it for 2-3 hrs before tech service said it was NFG. Sporty's was great.. Immediate if not before response.
