First flown in 1932, the Beech Staggerwing is a biplane that gets its name from the fact that the lower wing is farther forward than the upper wing. Much like top corporate jets today, the Staggerwing represented the ultimate in personal, executive travel in the 1930s.

The Staggerwing's speed made it popular among the air racers of the 1930s. In all, close to 800 Beech Model 17 Staggerwings were manufactured in eight different series during 16 years of production with many of them still flying today.

Always popular with pilots, the Beech Staggerwing is a truly classic aircraft. Plane & Pilot magazine named the Staggerwing one of the Top Ten All-time Favorite Aircraft while AOPA Pilot’s readers named it the “Most Beautiful Airplane.”
