Sigtronics originated the voice-activated intercom and now they've updated their popular Transcom II with features that make it the finest portable intercom available. Its rugged, shatterproof case includes an easy-access battery door that makes an in-flight battery change a snap. Dual power capability permits use of either the internal 9 volt battery (included) or an auxiliary 4 ft. power cord (included) that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Combines the convenience of “hands-free” voice activation with unique, fail-safe air traffic control monitoring ability. When you transmit to ATC, the cockpit intercom function is automatically disabled. However, since all transmissions are heard at each headset, it is a valuable tool for the instructor and the student who wish to monitor each other’s transmission. The headset mic is routed directly to the radio to provide fail-safe operation. Even in the event of a battery failure mid-flight, the pilot can still hear and transmit. Operates approx. 40 hours on a single 9 volt battery. Auxiliary output and input jacks allow recording/playback of ATC clearances or flight instruction with a cassette recorder.
