Rated 3.8/5 based on 5 customer reviews
Product description: Ride along with host Richard L. Collins as he explores three popular glass cockpit systems offered in both Cessna and Cirrus aircraft. First, Collins highlights the Garmin G1000 found in Cessna single-engine aircraft. See first-hand, both on the ground and in the air, the integration of electronic flight instrumentation, GPS, autopilot, traffic, weather and terrain awareness. Next, join Richard as he provides an overview of the Avidyne FlightMax Entegra found in the Cirrus SR-22. He is joined by David Zitt, a Cirrus-certified flight instructor, who discusses what it takes to transition to glass cockpits and common mistakes he has seen along the way. Finally, we’ll look at the Cirrus Perspective by Garmin including its integration of a full digital autopilot, flight director, keypad and synthetic vision display. With glass cockpit systems being the standard in avionics, there is no better time than now to learn how they can make your next flight safer and more efficient! Approx. 1 hr. and 21 mins.

    Pros

    The PFD discussion was satisfactory.

    Cons

Not enough detail in the use of the navigational or GPS section. I didn't get any sense of the operation in enough detail.

    General Comments

The navigational aspect needs more explanation since it will replace the VOR methods in a few years. The Garmin Perspective system in the Cirrus was woefully inadequate. Perhaps the specific training DVDs in the G1000 or Avidyne system would be more of what I need. If the MFD section was more detailed, this DVD would meet my requirements for recommendation.

    Pros

This was a fairly good overview of different glass panels as a whole.

    Cons

Only cursory and basic demonstrations of each glass panel were given.

    General Comments

I didn't really think this would be an in-depth "course type" video. I think $15 for the video would be more of the proper value. It was a good overview if you are interested in glass panels in general. It was about what I expected.
