    Better than kneeboard, for me
    Pros

Has two clips. I use one for my chart and checklists and the other for a notepad. It stays on my lap, without being fastened to my leg.

    Cons

A pen holder would have been useful, but I attached a lanyard to the board and fastened a pen at the end of a lanyard, so even if the pen unclips itself from the board, it doesn't fall on the floor or get lost.

    General Comments

I had been using a small kneeboard -- one that would be necessary for a plane with a between-the-legs control stick. But I'm training in a Cessna 172, so a small kneeboard isn't necessary, and wasn't big enough for everything I want in front of me while I'm flying. My instructor recommended this, and it works well, even without being attached to me in any way.

I guess the only good thing I can say is that it is durable.

    Cons

Way too bulky. It does not stay well on top of your lap.

    Pros

A useful tool. has good info on the placard, versatile.

    Cons

A bit flimsy and expensive for what it was. Not as large as expected.

    General Comments

Everyone who leaves the pattern needs some sort of clipboard to hold the various charts, papers, manuals, notes, etc, that flying out of sight of home base requires. If you are alone, it all goes in the right seat and we hope the wind does not blow it down to the tailcone, but if you have a co-pilot, you need better way to get organized. A folding flight desk is a bit more useful than a clipboard, and it has a certain "cool factor," right?

For me, in-flight useful stuff goes on this thing. Other stuff that is needed at specific times (checklists, etc) goes in the pocket down by my left knee. That system works for me.

On the negative side, this thing was a bit pricy for what is essentially a smallish aluminum folding clipboard. And it feels a bit flimsy. Has not broke yet, though.

Fits on lap nicely and doesn't move.

    Cons

Needs to have a pencil holder on one of the clips.
While it fits on lap nicely, it has a tendency to get in the way during landing.

    Pros

    Strong, sturdy and well made.

    Cons

The design leaves my check lists and paperwork exposed on both sides.

    General Comments

Should have been built to close inwards (reverse the direction of the hinges) to create an environment that would provide more protection for my papers.

I find this very useful in the cockpit. The foam strips on the back keep it from sliding around. It quickly folds up, and slips right into my flight bag.

    Pros

Holds a lot of stuff in a compact manner. Easy to get to what you need.

    Cons

Can be awkward to keep balanced on lap while flying with a yoke. (Or is my flight instructor just torturing me by making me keep this on my lap during the entire lesson?)

    General Comments

Good product. This is somebody's really good idea, manufactured.

    Pros

Very sturdy, strong clamps, nice VFR reference information sticker, cooler than those that strap around the leg.

    Cons

A little bulky for what it is. No easy place to keep/store pens. Gets in the way of medium-to-large aileron deflections since it spans your legs

    General Comments

I've tried various flight desks and haven't been totally sold on any of them. While flying solo I prefer this desk as I can quickly slide it to/from the vacation right seat during t/o and landing. During those phases I find it gets in the way of larger roll deflections of the yoke. For those times, if I know I'm going to be writing a lot or checking flight plans I prefer the strap-on type. But when just cruising around this is much cooler on the legs and quicker to move around.

Great value for the cost. Light-weight. Foam strips on back do a great job of curtailing sliding.

    Cons

No pencil holder, so I improvised by wedging the pencil in the right clip. Works just fine.

    General Comments

Simple and easy. I keep my sectional on the left and nav log on the right. The foam on the back kept it from sliding around on my lap. Very satisfied and very glad that I purchased it!

    Pros

I've only used this on one cross-country so far, but it has proven to be very helpful. I have my flight log on the right and chart on the left; perfect size. Stays well just sitting on your legs, no straps needed.
