Not only is it a nice size flight desk, it has a storage compartment for keeping extra charts, pencils, computers, plotters, checklists, etc.-right where you need them. In addition to the storage compartment, it offers an additional aluminum surface. Secure both your flight plan and your chart; flip from one to the other. ConsOdd geometry, not visible in catalog. The spring clip at the top will hold about 1/8 inch of paper, but the top lid will hold a half inch of paper so it is an odd duck in actual use. Visualize carrying a laptop that always has its lid open at least 3/8 inch. I fixed it by some creative metal bending so it has a slimmer profile, otherwise I would have returned it. It's large size obviously has its advantages and disadvantages but I have been pleased with it overall. I am a little over 6' so my seat is a set back as far as it will go which gives me room to use something this big. If I had to move my seat forward much I might find it hard to use this item. |

However, I had a bit of trouble when it came to the clipboard clamp. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get it to open. A screwdriver did the trick, though - turned out it was just jammed a bit. A quick pry solved the problem. Now it works like a dream! |
