This fuel gauge shows how much fuel is in the tanks to be able to cross refrence it with the fuel gauge in the cockpit. |
| It probably works. Cons The process to determine fuel accurately with the universal gauge is daunting. It requires a lineman who is willing to be patient enough to add various amounts of fuel while you calibrate the device. It also requires an almost empty tank; this means the line crew has to offload fuel or I have to guess when I'm about to run the tank dry. I have used a simple fuel gauge like this that did NOT have to be calibrated in my Skylane and it was wonderful. I think you should ask the manufacturer to make more gauges specific to each airplane. |

Better than not having any method to verify the aircraft's gauges accuracy. ConsMUST use conversion chart. Similiar to direct read style of the Cessna version, but inaccurate w/o the chart. This leads pilot's who are not aware of the conversion chart to have inaccurate readings. General CommentsNot really what I expected. You have to "calibrate" it by measuring known quantities and filling out a graph. Then use the graph to fill out a conversion chart. Each time you use the gauge, you must reference the chart. Not a good nor reliable system if there are mulitple pilots as in a flying club. I HIGHLY recommend making permanent marks on the gauge to avoid confusion. |

It's easy to use, made out of good, strong material and easy to store. ConsThe only bad thing about it is the fact that it comes with a chart and you have to seat there and convert all the numbers. It is kind of confusing until you figure it out. Since essentially i thought all the marking were on the equipment itself. Other than that it's a great fuel gauge and it's worth the money.
