It was a great review of FOI topics. It is intended for initial CFI ratings. It puts all the necessary info in a compact place and is both a good study review as well as a self test method to find areas the applicant should consider brushing up on. It would also be a great study guide/self test for the getting the CFI renewed. ConsIt doesn't have a whole lot of information about other ratings like the CFII or CFIME. However, if you combine this book with the appendix in the Instrument rating oral study guide, then pretty much all the topics are covered. Also, an index would have been very helpful. General CommentsI found the book invaluable. It was a great review. However, it, like the FOI and the other 8083 FAA texts, it is more reference material rather than how to correlate the material together. It's great for the oral exam, but it will not make you great instructor. (e.g. Just because someone knows all the parts to a bicycle doesn't mean they know how to ride it). |
