Roman Engraving: All three initials are the same size and are engraved in the order of first, middle and the last initial.
Mono Circle Engraving: The center initial is larger than the two initials on either side. Initials are engraved in the order of first, last and then middle initials. The mono circle engraving requires three initials.

Purchased as a Christmas gift, so I have no knowledge yet of durability, reliability, or ease of use. However, pretty impressive product (and packaging) from all appearances, so far.
