Inner measuring tube is calibrated in hundredths of an inch and measures the first inch of rainfall. Rainfall over one inch and up to 11” accumulates in outer cylinder. In colder weather, use the outer cylinder to catch hail, sleet and snow—melt it indoors to measure. Remove Gauge from its mounting bracket (included) to empty. Made in the USA.

Pros
Nice wide top opening funnels rain into smaller tube. Easy to attach to a fence post or house. Easy to empty.
Cons
Will crack if small tube is left out in freezing temperatures.
General Comments
This is my second rain gauge. I left the small tube outside during freezing temperatures and it cracked. I will bring the small tube inside during the winter months from now on for this one. When I received my rain gauge the small tube was cracked. The packaging was intact so I have to assume it was packed in the cracked condition. I received a replacement in a few days, but if someone was checking for quality control, I would not have been inconvenienced by having to order a replacement. I previously had the same model rain gauge and the small inside tube froze and cracked in the winter. I would recommend that customers bring the small tube inside during the winter in freezing temperatures.
