Over 12,000 were manufactured and the design was so solid many saw service well into the 1950s. The most famous of these historical aircraft was “Lulubelle”, the Corsair flown by Maj. Gregory “Pappy” Boyington, the colorful and well known Marine Corps Ace and leader of the legendary Black Sheep Squadron. This museum quality aerosculpture is handcarved of mahogany and is detailed with victory markings and a full load of armaments. It has a wingspan of 17.5” and is 14.25” long. The mahogany base is a work of art in itself with its handcarved Marine Corps logo and gleaming stainless steel arm.
