Pros
Very handy tool.
Cons
The manual comes in handy, it's pretty difficult to look at and figure out, unlike most new electronic devices.
General Comments
Overall would recommend, great tool for backup. I'm a student pilot and just didn't end up needed it as much for plane spotting or emergencies so I would rather use the money towards flight fees.

Pros
Good loud speaker. Large orange backlit display. Small case size fits in shirt pocket. Comes with headset and antenn adapters. Tests to specs!
Cons
Programming takes a little time. All the channels preprogrammed in the book memory are of little value to me. When you finally find the one you want, it's too late.

Had a problem with headset jack or adapter cable. Returned it to Sporty. Sporty replaced the radio and before shipping replacement to me, confirmed that the headset function worked fine. Very satified with Sporty's.
can't figure out how to program stored numbers. I will need to go to school to figure out how to use this
General Comments
I would recommend this to someone just to use as a devise to listen to radio calls for school work.

Seems like a durable unit, when shipped the screen has some mild imperfections on the left side (does not affect function). This unit has way more than the average private pilot will ever need, but it is affordable. This is my first aviation radio and have it as a back up only. It is definitely not intuitive, I have a lot of electronics use back ground and this is going to take some time with the manual to get me used to its functionality.

Pros
Seems to have good range and battery. I left the radio on for 48 hours and still had a charge.
Cons
Battery must be discharged before charging to prevent a memory. Needs to update to Nickel Metal Hydrate.
General Comments
Good radio for the money.

Pros
Compact, rugged, waterproof.
Cons
Reception was much poorer than expected. I have to be within a couple of miles of the airport to receive AWOS and aircraft traffic calls. I expected much better range than this.
General Comments
Have to return the radio. Range is too poor for my purposes. It may be better in the air but I bought it primarily for ground use.

Pros
This radio is great for doing pretty much anything. I mainly use it to just listen to other planes and so forth. It is pretty powerful I live in Northwest Alabama and can pick up Memphis Center clear as day. It is small and can easily fit places which is another plus.
Cons
Figuring out just how to program things into it can be somewhat of a challenge but for me if I really needed to get to a frequency fast I would just punch the numbers in, it isn't that hard.
General Comments
Overall I love this radio, I think it's a good buy for the money and it works great. I haven't had to use it for real in a plane but I feel more comfortable knowing that it's there in case I need it.

A little tough to program. I bought the adapter cables, but they don't fit any of my laptops! Buy a DB9M to USB adapter cable too!

Pros
This radio is great and when it picks up a pilot it is clear. I love it and im glad i got this.
Cons
The only way to pick up most transmissions is to press a button, when you press it then it gets a lot of static, not sure if its just me but that is what happens and its very annoying having it like that and not being able to just let it be quiet till a transmission comes.
General Comments
i gave it a 4/5 star in reliability because it does not pick up all transmissions till you press the button.
