On the evening of 5 June 1944, under an overcast sky, the men of Easy Company, 101st Airborne Division, left their encampment and marched to the aircraft that would carry them into battle. The “Band of Brothers” boarded the C-47 Transports from which they would parachute into France to begin the liberation of Europe during WWII. This handcarved mahogany Douglas C-47 “D-Day Invasion” Model has been signed and numbered on its base by two members of the “Band of Brothers”. Forrest Guth was an original member of the third platoon serving as a Sergeant. Buck Compton was awarded a Silver Star while serving as a 2nd Lieutenant commanding the second platoon, earning him a promotion to 1st Lieutenant. Includes a Certificate of Authenticity with matching number. Measures about 13”l with an 18” wingspan.
