Realistic. Helps to have a good computer. don't think that this is going to function with your old dell with 5g and 30 g of ram. I planned before-hand. I'm a licensed pilot, so controls were familiar. Set-up was easy, but don't get in a hurry, as that will spoil the effect. Make sure you have a desk with room to mount from below. Not all desks are created equal. Take your time. It's not reality, but then again, if you want reality, get your license. This is a great tool for those days when it's not condusive to flying, and most schools recognize the motivation to purchase this set-up, to continue to learn, as a good pilot is always learning.
Cons
Pedals are a bit sluggish, but I attribute that to being on carpet. Get velcro and attach it.

Cons
I am presently attempting to interface my simulator package with a 50" high def 3D television to make the flight more realistic. I am having challenges in this effort. The game does not, as of yet, play on the television. The Geek Squad is scheduled to come to my home to hopefully resolve this issue.

Inexpensive (relatively). While not quite as realistic as I would like, it does help me improve my instrument scan.
Cons
The controls are not realistic, they are either too sensitive or not sensitive enough and do not respond as I would expect. I spent a lot of time configuring them just to make them usable.
The drivers don't work well. I had to install a third party driver just to get the throttle quadrant to work correctly. The drivers that were included caused the throttle, prop and mixture to either be all the way in or all the way out; 90% of the range of the controls were not used. I spent two days getting this to work correctly; there are a lot of blogs available from people with the same issue.
General Comments
Once I got everything setup, I do use this regularly. I'm instrument rated but took several years off flying so I needed something to help me get back into the game. I tend to control pitch with the trim because using the yoke just doesn't respond correctly but, as I mentioned before, this does help my scan.

The missions are set up for a novice to begin flying easily. I was able to figure out most of the function of the various buttons and switches by trial and error. Some were similar to actual controls in single engine planes, some weren't
Cons
There was no owners manual or instructions with the yoke assembly. The throtte had no hardware to attach it to table clamp. The yoke control unit and the rudder pedal unit could use rubber buttons or covering on top to prevent a laptop from moving and for the rudder assembly from sliding on the floor.

Not enough instructions on adjusting sensitivity and null settings for control surfaces. More instructions needed on assigning various axis and control buttons to specific yoke and pedal controls. If your using the system for Cessna flight training the throttle, mixture, and gear module utilizes levers vs. push/pull controls. Still working on getting the toe brakes to operate correctly.

Documentation is not available to use with Windows 7 for Setup. Upon calling Sporty Customer Service, I was informed there isn't any documentation Before purchasing I called to confirm that Windows 7 was supported. I have not been succesful in implementing teh Saitek hardware.

Too much time waist trying to configurate the hardware, Saitek is a company from the UK and Microsoft don't like it. Certificate wised.

Each individual item seems to be of quality construction and as described.

To work properly on my computer, which is less than 1 year old required the addition of a $150 graphics card and $100 power supply. Setup and adjustment is very time consuming....probably 4-5 hours so far and it still doesn't react very realistically. I think it has the potential to, I just haven't gotten it there yet.

cockpit layouts very accurate

yoke has major sticking points through the pitch axis. can't print out full list of keyboard functions to reference for programing control buttons; must take notes and continually go back to settings menu. program freezes or locks up often. mouse will only operate partial cockpit components such as autothrottles but not autopilot. still can' get toe brakes instead of yoke button. mouse quits altogether for settings often. comes with next to no indepth guide

I have twenty three years and over thirteen thousand hours of major airline experience this thing will make you pull your hair out from frustration. you will spend more time troubleshooting and resetting than flying. would be nice to have more planning tools available such as airport layout charts for runway orientation, lenghts, terrain and obstacles,etc. I bought a brand new computer just for this program, it is used for nothing else so I know it has the horsepower , the program does not!
