Designed with pilots in mind, the extended life carbon monoxide detector can identify carbon monoxide for a minimum of 18 months. A magnetic adhesive back allows this detector to be placed almost anywhere. A green spot indicates the presence of carbon monoxide. If the spot turns dark blue, the concentration is high enough to cause serious physical effects. When exposed to fresh air, the spot will eventually turn back to yellow. Measures 3” x 2”. Made in USA.

I have purchased this product in the past and it does work. I have never had an issue of Carbon Monoxide build up in the cockpit, however, I always test the one I'm replacing by holding it up to the exhaust of my truck and it turned colors very quickly.

The other type of detector only lasts a few months where as this one lasts 18 months. Yes, it cost more but in the long run you will end up saving money. Highly recommended with any piston aircraft during the winter months. many years ago I flew a 310 that had a leaky heater, we were luck we didn't get carbon monoxide poising. Ever since then I always use one of these. It's cheap insurance that might save your life..
