Tibbets was a B-17 pilot who had flown 25 missions in WWII including the first U.S. Flying Fortress raid against occupied Europe. Dwight D. Eisenhower, for whom Tibbets served as a personal pilot at times during the war, considered him to be "the best flyer in the Army Air Force." He was chosen to organize, train and command the top secret mission to drop the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, helping to end the war. By early August, 1945, training was complete and Tibbets piloted the B-29 Superfortress he named the Enola Gay into history. He finished his career as a Brigadier General and died in 2007 at the age of 92. This Limited Edition print of him with the Enola Gay has been personally autographed by Tibbets. Each print comes with a history sheet and a Certificate of Authenticity. Measures unframed 10”h x 8”w.
