This is so much easier to use than a fixed plotter. Doesn't seem to bend.
Cons
The rotating disc gets scratched up quickly due to particulates or whatever debris that manages to get in between it and the ruler rubbing against the plastic when you rotate it.

The gridded protractor makes orienting to the map very easy and efficient. I would sometimes inadvertantly scale off distances with the wrong scale and only catch it at the end so having the protractor on the top of the 'Sectional' scale is good for students.
