Pros This is an excellent simulator designed exactly to do what it says it does. It will turn a Private Pilot into an Instrument Pilot. It will give you all the fundamentals that you will need to complete your lessons for less $$$. You will have already practiced your lessons before you step foot in your airplane. I have had several CFII’s tell me that you have to fly on instruments before you start shooting approaches and this program follows that logic.
Cons This thing is extremely sensitive!!! If you’re gaining a little attitude or off courses it will scold you! (It shows up in a big red scrolling message). Not that this is a con but it will not except anything less other than perfect, it however does not take into account a learning curve. It demands perfection, the way instrument flying should be. The attitude indicator is difficult to tell when the wings are completely level. Other than that the program will let you try try try again until you achieve perfection. Oh one other thing, save your money on the MS rudder pedals they can not be used on the simulator unless you are flying in the “free” mode.
General Comments If you are thinking about an instrument rating this is an excellent program that demonstrates the fundamentals on the ground. Part of learning is knowing what you’re going to do before you do it. You can also practice approaches at most air ports in the US however the approach plates may not be current. I think this product is not well marketed. There are two books that come with the package; one book is the actual simulator book. It describes how the program works and how to change views. The other book is a VERY thick scholastic style book that is packed with information. Specifically it provides knowledge to pass your written, oral and practical exams.

Pros Everything from more precise pitch, power and bank through holding procedures and approaches are covered.
Cons I did have to obtain a patch from the company for the joystick I am using but it was a very fast response (1 day) and was extremely easy to install. Works smooth every time.
General Comments Excellent product for the private pilot who is interested in beginning to understand the Instrument rating.
