For piston and light turbine aircraft

This next generation Ground Power Unit (GPU) is designed as a practical alternative to large, expensive carts. Provides stable, noise free, laboratory-grade DC without risk of costly damage to sophisticated avionics, instruments and electrical equipment. 28V DC output. Available in 35 or 70 amp models. Digital display shows both voltage and amps with overload warning.

This GPU includes an integrated BatteryMINDer®, the 3-stage continuous-duty charger that maintains, conditions, and desulfates lead-acid aircraft batteries (not for NiCad or lithium). The new CEC1 series BatteryMINDer offers improved diagnostic tools and modes that extend the life of your battery. Temperature-compensated output ensures precise charging under all conditions and will never over or under-charge. Desulfation restores full capacity and extends battery life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use the GPU to start an aircraft engine?

A: The GPU is adequate for piston engine start ASSIST ONLY. Its capacity is inadequate for turbine engine start assist and should be used for airframe systems power only. Do not attempt to start the turbine engine with the GPU connected to the aircraft.

See the User Manual for details

See the BatteryMinder Manual for details

Q: Does my GPU have the overload alarm and auto-shutdown feature?

A: In addition to the output meters, a GPU that has Active Load Monitoring sounds an alarm to indicate overload, and if the condition continues, it initiates an automatic shutdown. Active Load Monitoring was introduced in January, 2015. All GPUs produced since then have the feature, and older GPUs can be upgraded at the factory for a fee.

Q: Does the GPU work outside North America?

A: The GPU itself may be used with almost any voltage, but if you have a GPU with an internal BatteryMINDer, it is only compatible with a 100-127V AC power source. In countries with other voltage standards, a compatible BatteryMINDer must be purchased and used separately.

Q: Can I leave the BatteryMINDer connected for long periods of time?

A: Yes, the BatteryMINDer is designed to remain connected and will not overcharge or damage your battery.

Q: Is the GPU BatteryMINDer compatible with Concorde batteries?

A:  Yes, BatteryMINDer chargers inside our Ground Power Units do not require any special configuration to properly charge Concorde batteries.
