High performance without the high price

A good headset is essential for safe and comfortable flying, but too often pilots are faced with a tough choice: pay over $1000 for a great headset, or buy a cheap one that is uncomfortable and lacking important features. Faro has solved this problem with their new Stealth Headsets. These sleek and stylish headsets have the high-end features you want, like music input and optional active noise reduction, but at prices you can afford. Perfect for student pilots, passengers or anyone who appreciates a great value – not just a great price.

Impressive active noise reduction
ANR headsets, which use microphones and speakers to electronically reduce noise, offer a new level of quiet in the cockpit. They have changed the way pilots use headsets, but they have typically been unaffordable for many pilots. The Stealth ANR Headset includes both passive and active noise reduction providing up to 52 dB of noise reduction, but still costs under $400.

Music input
Long cross-country flights can get boring, but listening to music can help keep your attention – and maybe your sanity. The Stealth Headset’s aux input jack is conveniently located on the juncture box where the headphone and microphone plugs come together, and an auxiliary input cable is included. Just plug in and enjoy.

Double thick ear seals
A headset is only as good as the ear seals, so Faro spent months designing the perfect material. The result is a set of ultra-soft, protein leather ear seals that are over twice as thick as other brands. This provides ultimate comfort with maximum passive noise reduction.

Noise-canceling electret microphone
Fully adjustable microphone boom is reversible and features a noise-canceling electret microphone. This delivers high quality, crystal clear communication so you sound like a pro even if it’s your first solo. The 360 degree rotatable microphone boom is fully adjustable to provide the perfect microphone placement.

Stereo audio with dual volume controls
Independently control volume levels to both the left and right ear, with no confusing controls. Faro Stealth headsets also feature a stereo/mono switch so they are adaptable to most aircraft intercom systems. Even if your intercom is mono, you’ll still hear music in stereo.

Helpful customer support
You will probably never need it, but Faro Stealth headsets include a worry-free 3-year warranty and friendly, US-based customer service.

Faro Stealth ANR headset
Have been using BOSE headset 10+ years. I wanted inexpensive ANR backup headset. Tested my new FARO STEALTH ANR headset one day after I received it and it performed as expected. It felt a little heavy at first compare to the BOSE but after 30 minutes flight I got used to it and I forgot that I am using a different headset. My son likes the AUX input to listen to his music in flight. I recommend it for the price.

An ANR headset in its own class, basically
I found this headset to be a great fit for me. For quality, comfort and features, they probably are not better than anything costing more than these, but are likely WAAY better than cheaper or similar priced options.

Great ANR for a great price
The ANR works great at reducing the noise level even further in the C172’s that I have been flying. I have found it comfortable to wear for at least an hour at a time. I haven’t worn it for longer than that yet but suspect it will continue to be comfortable for longer flights as well.

Faro ANR -Great performance and a great price
Wow! Very comfortable headset. This is my first ANR headset and it really works well. I am getting back into flying and building experience prior to test flying my Zenith Zodiac. This makes it so easy to bear the radio or passenger. I recommend this unconditionally- great comfort, noise cancelling and very affordable.

Quality not worth the money!
I bought this headset thinking that I would be receiving a quality ANR headset for a low cost. Unfortunately, when I first tried it, audio in the right ear didn't work, and the mic was very muffled. I read similar reviews of people having audio issues in on of the ears. Not sure if my headset was malfunctioned or if this is a regular occurrence in all of them.

Response from Sporty's Pilot Shop
The one ear audio problem may be due to the stereo/mono setting not being set appropriately for your audio ipanel. Try flipping that switch and see if that fixes it.

A waste of money.
A waste of money. The ANR is almost non-existent. A good passive headset is a much better use of your flying dollars.

good economy headset for a beginner
I've owned this headset for a couple of months. It is a good headset for the money. But if I was doing it again, I would probably spend the extra money for Lightspeed Sierra.
Note that the stereo/mono switch is poorly located. It is easy to accidentally switch it to stereo while changing the batteries, I've done it twice. Once you've done this, the switch is so small and hard to see that you can't switch it back easily It's virtually impossible in flight, I have to use a flashlight and small screwdriver to switch it. This is a real pain when you are on an ifr flight plan going in and out of IMC, glad my old David Clark's were within reach!

ANR is great but...
I got mine two days ago and couldn't wait to try them. I took them for a x-country today and for some reason the ANR feature kept shutting off like every ten minutes. I'm not sure if it's a product defect or maybe I should try a different set of batteries (I used a fresh set of alkalines). Either way I'll try new batteries next time and we'll see. SPORTY'S CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE Thank you for the review. Please let us know if the problem persists. We'll send another unit out ASAP.

Great Product except on thing....
This is a great headset for the price and easy to use for a student pilot like myself. The only thing is I must have gotten a bad headset because I have only had them for around a month to two and the right speaker has no audio. Besides that, I would recommend this as a good beginning headset. SPORTY'S CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE Thank you for the review, and please accept our apologies for the speaker issue. Normally if you only have sound coming through one speaker, this indicates a stereo/mono issue. Remove the batteries, and flip the S/M switch and see if this fixes the issue. If this does not fix the issue, we will gladly switch them out for a new pair. Please contact us at support@sportys.com.

Rusty Pilot Makes a Transition to a High-Tech Device!
My, goodness... This type of device -- at this cost-effective and attractive price-point -- wasn't available to me when I last flew in 1981. Now, there's no concern whatsoever about hearing any communications at towered or non-towered airports; the conversations are loud-and-clear; the thick, position adjustable, leather ear muffs are an excellent feature. Plus, the active noise reduction feature significantly reduces engine noise, too. When coupled to an iPhone, phone calls are a snap as inputs to the microphone are executed in a crystal clear manner. In addition, listening to music -- with the iPhone as the source -- is easily accomplished with the provided interface cable assembly. I highly recommend the Faro Aviation Stealth ANR headset from Sporty's as an essential and necessary pilot tool in today's busy cockpit environment!

how is it different from the G2 model?
D L on Jan 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It has thicker and softer ear seals, a different microphone, a new/slim ANR control box and an all-black finish.
What is the time limit before it auto shuts off? What will prevent it from shutting off during flight?
Anthony M on Jul 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 10 minutes I think. I think it's lack of power not lack of communications that causes it to turn off. At any rate mine has never turned off in flight. But if it did you would still have comm, the only thing that would turn off is the anr and you could reach down and turn that back on.
Can this be used with satellite phone?
Jerry F on Nov 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The aux port is for audio in (music). It does not support mic out. I learned this when I tried to use it with my cell phone.
what is the passive noise reduction? If batteries die, don't want the noise to become overwhelming
Ken S on May 15, 2017
