Great Headset
I've been a private pilot for 2 years. I've used ANR headsets since I have been flying. While working on my IFR certification one of my biggest problems was communications. Since I purchased The Clairty Aloft headset I could copy ATC much better! Light weight, comfortable, noise reduction, in my opinion, better than ANR. Will not return to head clamp type headsets. Also Foggles and hoods are much easier to work with.

My Experience with the clarity Aloft
My Experience with the clarity aloft headset.
I wore the Clarity Aloft headset for 7 flights with durations ranging from 1 to 2.5 hours in a number of different C172s for flight training.
Overall my experience with the Clarity aloft was a positive one. The headset was extremely comfortable to wear. Okay so lets talk about what makes this a good headset. The lightweight nature of this style is unbeatable for comfort. The headset seems to be well built and the ear piece connections well designed. The provided canal tips are comfortable to wear and reduce the engine noise in a single engine piston to a comfortable level. I experimented with both of the included sizes as well as the Etymotic Research ER38-18CL flanged eartips. I think the flanged tips were slightly more comfortable overall. According to the instructor in the plane with me the mic sounded excellent.
Okay so what didn't I like about this headset? Well the mic boom wasn’t quite long enough and wouldn’t seem to stay in place. Every time I turned my head the mic would drop just enough that after scanning for flight maneuvers, I would need to reposition the mic. This was really just a minor annoyance more than anything else and something that I think could be solved if the mic boom were slightly longer and a little more rigid.
In summary: I never used it for music, so I can’t comment on that. However, the audio clarity was excellent for in plane coms and when receiving radio calls. The mic quality was reported as being very good / loud and clear by the instructor. Best of all its comfortable.
Tips: Compress the canal tips but do not roll them. Lift up and back on the top of the ear while inserting and hold it in place until it completely expands.
What I received when I opened the box. 1 well-made case, 1 headset with GA plugs, 1 tin of the canal tips (1 pair of the small pinks ,6 pairs of the grey medium tips and 1 pair of the large black tips) and a quick start guide.
Okay so what didn't I like about this headset?

Supremely Comfortable - But, Noise Cancellation is the Trade-Off
It is a VERY comfortable headset! But, the downside is that if you want truly superior noise cancellation, these won't hold a candle to any ANR headsets. But, if you want comfort and despise having a bulky headset weighing you down... this is for you.

Couldn’t be happier
Very light and out of the way. Stays put where you need it. Ive used the 5x5 with an ear mold and boom bar and it didmr like it. I have only used it at work flying an A320 where I can leave one earpiece out. Its so quiet with both in that I cant hear any TCAS or radio altimeter callouts. They are on a speaker, not through the headset.I havent used them in my Cessna 150 yet but I can tell they will be good there also just based on how quiet they are at work.Great headset, would recommend to everyone.

Not an ANR headset
The headset is light and definitely a different fit than a normal ANR headset. The noise attenuation was not close to the Bose or Lightspeed headsets that I own. The ear pieces didn't seem durable and would come off sometimes while trying to put on. Headset was light and a comfortable fit over my ears. It did hurt my wifes ears and she took it off mid-trip.

The best compared to over the ear
I have this headset for about a year, flying once a week. I originally started with David Clark loaners at my air school and hated the headset for clamping around my head. So, I looked for an alternative to over the ear headset and found these. They work extremely, great; I am able to hear every word clearly (with little engine noise, I'm in C172) and I have had no trouble with people not hearing me. The wires were a bit of a concern to me, because of their thin gauge. But I have no problems with them, just have to take care of the headset which is no problem; since it comes with a nice hard sided case which protect the headset. The in-ear works great, I am used to wearing ear plugs so there was a smooth transition to these. The plugs do get oily and usually replace after three to four months. But the best part of this headset is its lightness, I am able to do cross countries and forget all about it; especially in the summer when it gets really hot in southern California. My sunglasses fit perfectly with the headset since they are wire frames. Overall, this headset is perfect for my needs, the only tedious thing is putting in the plugs. Which becomes natural after a couple times.

Very light on your head
I am a corporate pilot and purchased these on the recommendation of a fellow pilot. I read several reviews, positive and negative, and made the choice to buy them. I have flown with them a total of two flights, seven hours, and here are my comments:
Pros: They are very light weight. You can almost forget you are wearing them. one advantage is removing one ear bud so you can converse with passengers or flight attendant without removing the entire headset or awkwardly moving one earpiece. Excellent freedom of movement and plenty of cord to allow you to move around.
Cons: The sponge ear pieces pop off the ear piece far too easily. I have already lost one somewhere under the seat. The metal wires, which go over the ears, dig into your face becoming uncomfortable after while. The mic boom is just long enough to reach the corner of your mouth, it could be longer.
In summary, the clarity is excellent and they appear to be a good deal. I will some to pad the wires and wear them a few more flights to make a full assessment.

Very impressed
Admittedly, I’ve never bought/used a high end headset like Bose or Lightspeed, but this headset is the best I’ve ever used. The over the ear types make my ears sweat, these block out more sound and are more comfortable. How do I know that they block more sound? Easy. When I switched on the Master switch, I didn’t hear anything. I momentarily thought that my battery was dead because the sound of the electric gyro spooling was completely blocked out! I highly recommend these headsets

How does the noise reduction compare to Bose?
A shopper on Oct 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This is a tricky question to answer because the headsets manage noise differently. The dense foam tips in the Clarity Aloft headset cancel outside noise by created an effective barrier in the ear canal. The Bose headset uses noise dampening from the ear cups plus active noise reduction technology to neutralize certain sound frequencies. I have limited time testing the Bose ANR headsets but I own a Sennheiser ANR headset and I've tested the new AKG product.
I fly a Piper Comanche 260. It's a pretty loud cockpit. Engine noise is more prominent with the Clarity Aloft product but I do not find it annoying or fatiguing. In fact, because the headset does not neutralize the sound waves, rather it just reduces the volume, I am better able to discern small changes in engine noise. I feel more in-tune with what's going on. I also like the freedom from bulky ear cups. No fussing putting on or adjusting glasses and foggles. No sweaty ears on summer days. The weight is practically zero.
Cons: Playing music on a high quality headset will obviously sound better. These are, after all, just fancy earbuds. I have no idea how durable these will be long term but the build quality seems pretty good. Sometimes I get a little pressure sensitivity around the front of the ear on the mic side from the support wire but it tends to abate on its own. Then again, I've never been completely comfortable with the clamping force of any headset either so this is one trade-off for another.
Best I can say is order them and give them a good workout before the end of the return period. They're so simple in design that it's hard to justify the price at first but everything general aviation is expensive. The ear bud wires and housing could be more substantial to limit the risk of snapping due to getting caught on something, so they should be stored in the case when not in use. Aside from that I like them just fine.
Can molded ear plugs be used in place of the foam ear plugs?
A shopper on Jan 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The ear plugs which come with the headset have a hole through the middle and screw onto the headset. If your molded ear plugs fit that, they might work.
How do these work with sunglasses?
Andrew V on Sep 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This is an amazing product, nothing is lighter, nothing is quieter. Make sure you use the proper ear plug. Too small and you better have a pair of tweezers nearby and a careful friend to extract them. The screw / thread is weak and it will not usually allow you to just pull them out. Big ear plug is easier to extract. Fits very well under a flight helmet.
Do all the headset components stay in place during Aerobatics (Lots of wide angle head movement about all axis and +- G are why I ask)? .
A shopper on Dec 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes this headset stays in place very well for aerobatics both positive and negative. Also comfortable with sunglasses on as well. Use the provided cord clip to your harness or shirt and you shouldn’t have any issues. For some people they need the tightening strap that clarity sells but I haven’t needed it. +8/-5 and haven’t lost it yet.
Do they come with the case?
A shopper on Sep 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes the bag is included.
Can the boom mic be used from either the left or right side?
A shopper on Feb 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No the mic is only on one side.
