I tried Lightspeed wireless Tango and hated them. They were comfortable but taking them out of plane after every flight to charge was a hassle. Unpredictable battery outage was frustrating. I flew to Sporty's on a mission to find the best headset to replace the Tango. I highly recommend the trip. I was able to try every model. I wanted Clarity Aloft but got the experience what not having ANR is like so that saved me a bad purchase. I then tried all other ANR models and settled on the DC ONE-X. My wife and I immediately went on a 2 hr flight and swapped headphones with each other throughout the flight, she starting out with our old Bose X. What we both realized is that the DC was lighter and more comfortable but did not sound any better than the Bose X. We considered them equal. So if you want new, buy the DC. If you don't mind used, the Bose X can be found on ebay.December 30, 2017Durability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesExcellent headset from a solid companyExcellent headset. Upgraded from a flight com headset I purchased for training in 2005. Comfort and communications are superb. Using the headset in a caravan and the noise canceling is wonderful. The reduced pressure on the ears is a great benefit for long days. I am getting used too the collapsible feature. Not used to it yet, but great for compact travel.December 11, 2017Purchased

AMAZING !November 27, 2017Purchased

Makes longer distance flights much more comfortable. The ENC also enables better communication--radio communications are crystal clear--the clarity exceeds any passive headset. Plus, Ive used DC headsets for many years in the USAF and my own flying and have never had an issue with them! Plan on buying more for the rest of the airplane!November 24, 2017Durability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use4 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesGreat headset all aroundI bought this headset after using a $100 ASA headset for 3 years.
David Clark is American made and has excellent customer service. My carrying case came in with their logo upside down. I sent customer service at DC an email and the next day they responded sending a new one out to me free of charge immediately. The ANR is great and allows me to still hear the engine but makes it quieter and easy on the ears. The headset is durable and comfortable.
The only con about the headset is the way it folds... the way it folds doesn't allow you to wrap the chord around it like most other headsets, but it isn't a huge concern to me. The Bluetooth works great with music and also with calls. You'll love this headset, especially if it's your first ANR like myself.October 9, 2017Purchased
6 months agoDurability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesEverything I wanted; sent back my Lightspeed Sierras3 months in with this headset and I still am very pleased w the purchase. VERY impressed w the passive noise reduction as well as the ENC. More than a few times, I've almost made it the entire flight without realizing that I hadn't turned the ENC on. Don't get me wrong - when the ENC is on, you DEFINITELY know it. My experience aligns with some other reviews I've seen; the headset doesn't eliminate all noise, it just makes everything MUCH quieter. I prefer it that way. I still want to be able to hear cues from RPM and pitch of the relative wind around the canopy.
I really like that Bluetooth and its two different BT modes can be changed without taking the batteries out. You don't need to distract yourself from the cockpit to make the changes you want with the headset. Also, the audio sounds just fine!
I also bought the Lightspeed Sierra but sent it back because I didn't like the Bluetooth interface, and the headset was quite bulky compared to this one. I'm a taller guy, so I need all the headroom I can get. I did consider the Zulu3, but didn't give them a shot since (1) they aren't made in the USA, (2) you can't reverse the mic, and (3) they aren't TSO'd. I like that this headset can come with me no matter what my aspirations are. I understand that the Zulu3 ear cups are designed to only fit one direction, but that seemed a bit inconvenient.
I appreciate how compact this thing is when you fold it up. I try to travel light, and while I don't use the included DC bag (which seems of fine quality, and adequate if you don't want to carry anything but the essentials when you fly), it takes up much less space than other headsets in my flight bag.
Lastly, this headset is VERY lightweight and comfortable. Now, the only discomfort I ever feel wearing this headset is caused by my sunglasses. The pressure from this headset is absolutely minimal - and again, without sacrificing the passive noise reduction. This headset strikes the PERFECT balance for me. Simple, clean, accessible, convenient, user-friendly, quality. I'm very pleased with the purchase and would highly recommend this headset. David Clark took good care of my previous DC headset that I had bought, and I feel my confidence is very well placed with their quality of service and production of this headset :)September 20, 2017Performance4 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value4 / 5Would You Recommend?YesNice headset, anr is great.Amazed at the difference when the anr is turned on. Comfortable on the head though they feel a little small compared to my last headset. I think I will get used to the feel, they are light. Distance from the jacks to the anr controller should be longer.September 12, 2017Purchased

Just right amount of ANR.I had a pair of Bose and find the DC-1X to have less noise reduction but at the right level. I can still sense motor and/or prop changes. Not quite as comfortable as the Bose but minor difference there.August 15, 2017Purchased

Browse 14 questions Browse 14 questions and 24 answersWill this work with the David Clark K10 helmet?BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately it will not fit directly into the helmet. That being said it is only the headset earcup shape that prevents this from happening. If you are handy I don't believe it would be very difficult to add enough material such that the One-X would fit into the helmet.
