Wish I'd Tried This Sooner

I now have a new all time favorite headset - the DC Pro X is easy to use and works quite well from either seat. I haven't adjusted the settings since the first flight.

Amazing Headset

Recommended

The DC PRO X is an excellent headset! It is very well made but yet light and small for carrying while commuting. The noise cancellation works well enough for the CRJ 2/7/9 flight deck. Sometimes I even forget to turn on the noise active noise cancellation. The headset is very comfortable and light, just what I need for flying 5+ hours a day.

Excellent but one flaw

Recommended

This is a great headset, highly recommend. I've used it in both corporate jets and single engine props. Not the best for the single engine but it works good enough. The only flaw, the cell phone function is garbage. The Bluetooth audio is clear and loud, but if you use it to make a call the other party can not hear you at all. So for that, four out of five stars.

Fantastic, much better ANR and audio than Telex 850

Recommended

I am a 757 767 captain for a US major. For the past 11 years, I have used the Telex 850, which has a small amount of ANR powered through the mic plug. After trying two FO's DC Pro X, I decided to order. Unfortunately, the first one I received must have had a manufacturing defect, because after just one flight, the spring mechanism attaching one side to the headband, popped off. Sportys outstanding customer service exchanged for a replacement the very next day after I returned via Fed Ex. I just finished flying 5 consecutive days with it, and absolutely love it. The sound quality of ATC, and also flight attendants and ramp personnel over the interphone, is drastically better than my old Telex. The Bluetooth sound quality from my iPhone while commuting, is also exceptional. It is comfortable enough to wear for an entire transcon. Highest possible recommendation. I wish I had bought one years earlier.

Solid DC quality

Recommended

Ordered these to replace my 20 year old H10-60 for a daily-use headset in a Hawker 800. They're built just as solidly as everything else DC makes, and more comfortable than just about any other ANR headset I've used. No pinch points or absurd pricing like the Bose A20's and no fragile construction like the Lightspeeds. Noise reduction works very well if you take your time to position the ear cups for a good seal (once you get the headband set it's quick). I can still hear passenger and flight attendant questions/requests through them, but they block almost all engine noise and a very good portion of wind noise (much better than the ANR Telex sets).

Bluetooth works fine, I got about 50 hours out of the first set of batteries while using it. I don't have the hiss that others describe, sound is clear and full-bodied just like the Bose and Lightspeeds I've used in the past.

Haven't used them in a piston yet, but for a jet these things are perfect. I've flown 5+ hour legs with them, and you forget they're on your head.

Outstanding...

Recommended

I´ve tested the headset now for approximately 30 hours in a cockpit of an Lear 60 and it´s amazing.
The fitting is perfect, it´s easy to use, the weight is great which means you don´t notice that you wear your headset and for me the sound is also great. Also the noise cancelling function is perfect. Highly recommended by myself!! It´s a great product for a smaller price compared with other providers...
Actually until now I had no chance to test it in an SEP/MEP - so I can´t tell you anything about that.

Great Jet Headset

Recommended

I've upgraded to these from the Clarity Aloft Pro. These seem to feel better on my head. They don't hang heavy on my ears like the Clarity Aloft did. The sound quality isn't as nice but that's only because you don't have a speaker in your ear like the Clarity, but for on the ear design its pretty good. Overall I'm very happy.

Do NOT buy for piston flying!

Recommended

I am a strong believer in David Clark headsets. Started out with the non-noise cancelling intro DC headset. Very much enjoyed the first headset I had. Was looking for a headset with ANR and saw these as great upgrade for lightweight ANR headset. Was however very disappointed at the ANR in a piston aircraft. Didn't cancel out any external noise and made the only two flights with them very distracting and hard to hear any type of ATC without blasting the volume in the aircraft. I'm sure they may work amazing in a jet, but I would not recommend if your main flying will be a piston. Stick to over-the-ear headset!

I've Been using my Pro-X headset in Gulstream aircraft. They work perfectly at reducing noise and remaining comfortable during longer flights. There is a noticeable difference between the David Clarks and the Telex ANR headset that they replaced. I can still hear enough ambient noise (FA coming up to talk, Pax question) yet they cut out background "clutter." Highly recommend this product.

Does it get uncomfortable after long use (1hr-2hrs)?
A shopper on Jul 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm using it I place of a telex 850 that began to fail. It's a great unit and I have to say after 4 hours of flying it does begin to press on my ears. Yet the quality and functionality are superb. I would reduce the size of the headband. Battery power lasts about 40 hrs.
are the plugs compatible to Cessna 172 ?
A shopper on Sep 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: i wish i can tell you they are, but i haven't flown a 172 in years...i fly a 737 and while the unit works well, the batteries last about 30 hours. ear pads are comfortable until after 4 hours then they become tight against the ears. the worst issue with this unit is the heavy battery on/off piece that weighs quite a bit with 2 AA batteries. the bluetooth works great....
If I buy this headset I am living in overseas do I have to pay tax or can I buy tax free?
A shopper on Mar 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We charge tax when products are shipped to an Ohio address. You may be required to pay duties and taxes for the products when it is processed through customs.
