No noticeable interference. The LED is a bit dim in daylight. Be advised, the unit will emit a loud beep when it is plugged in and you crank your starter. Must be the low voltage squeal. Took me a couple of starts to figure out it was the USB adapter making the sound. Overall, would recommend but haven't owned it long enough to comment on reliability and durability.April 19, 2018Purchased
1 month agoEase Of Use5 / 5Value4 / 5Would You Recommend?YesI purchased this for the volt readings rather than charging. Although it's not the brightest display, it is more readable t ones I have purchased from the auto parts store and certainly cheaper than a panel mounted voltmeter. So, it's doing what I need it to do.April 15, 2018Purchased

Apparently the regulator could not handle to draw of the Stratus receiver. I have purchased the Appearo panel mount USB ports and will use them for the Stratus 2S.April 13, 2018Purchased

Seems to work great without any radio interference. Only issue is I am unable to real the output in daylight.April 13, 2018Durability4 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesGreat charger for use in your car alsoAfter an alternator failure in my car resulted in total electrical system failure, I needed something to alert me to an alternator/battery failure. This is it. In addition, it delivers the correct charge rate to an iPad used as a GPS in my car, without over-charging it. Be careful removing it from the lighter socket, though, because the innards will pull out if you forcefully disconnect by pulling on the cord.April 9, 2018Purchased

4 weeks agoWould You Recommend?YesScratch on display but works ok so farThe display area had a visible scratch on it when I rec’d and removed from the shipping box. Device works ok so far, used 2x briefly. Disappointed has a scratch on display, however, seems to work ok. Will be testing how quickly it charges my phone and iPad soon.April 3, 2018Purchased

1 month agoDurability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance2 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value2 / 5Would You Recommend?NoDigital display is uselessI bought this charger thinking the digital read-out of system voltage or charging load would be a nice feature to have. And it would be if I only flew at night or indoors. In my cockpit outdoors in daylight (even on a cloudy day) the digital readout is so dim as to be invisible. If I had it to do over, I'd get a charger without the digital display for 1/2 the price.March 12, 2018Purchased
4 months agoPerformance4 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesWorks well - no noise on comm!Used it for the first time today in the Glasair. Previous units from other sources put noise on comm or intercom. This unit did not put any perceptible noise on either. Only tested it against 2 frequencies, and the intercom, but all were unaffected by noise from the unit. It kept the iPad charged during the flight. The LED indicators for voltage were not readable in daylight, but that's not why I purchased the unit.. So far it works great. Can't comment on durability or reliability, having only used it the one time.March 9, 2018Purchased

Browse 19 questions Browse 19 questions and 33 answersIf the DC input is listed as 12v to 24v, and since airplanes with a 24v battery use 28v internally, won't such an airplane exceed the specs of the device? [On July 3 I had smoke in the cockpit during flight when another brand USB charger started overheating and melting. Proper specs and high quality are necessary in the cockpit environment.]BEST ANSWER: This device is designed to work with both 24V and 12 V aircraft system. What voltage will it work with?BEST ANSWER: This unit will work with both 12 and 24 volt systems. Will this unit cause noise on my radios?BEST ANSWER: It should not cause noise on the radios.Has anyone tested this with an IPAD running Foreflight on long flights? My other 2A chargers don't keep up.BEST ANSWER: I have used this device many times now with my iPad Air running the Garmin Pilot app in a Skylane. It performs as specified delivering 2.4 amps from each output which will keep both devices connected fully charged indefinitely. One possible negative is that on a 12vdc source it will beep continuously. BTW, I had previously used 3 different Dual 2.4 USB Cigarette Lighter Chargers #6588A. Each of them only delivered 1.0 amps per output and therefore unable to hold a charge on a single iPad which would eventual die on a long flight.Has this been tested for EMI that degrades performance of avionics, especially, but not limited to, GPS navigators?BEST ANSWER: I fly a 1956 Cessna 180 VFR only. I fly with an iPad with a Bad Elf GPS. I have not noticed any changes with the Bad Elf or my Garmin 396 GPS. I have not noticed any change to VHF radio static either. I love this charger! The charger for a garmin 696 will work. My car charger for my iPhone won't. Will this work?BEST ANSWER: What are you trying to charge?Does this unit have an internal fuse? if so, what is the amp rating?BEST ANSWER: This charger does not have a fuse, but uses a built in "smart circuit" design that protects from overcharging and aslo over current.Today with 26.3 V connected, external power, to my 24 V airplane, all was well until I connected my iPad. Shortly after I got a red blinking warning along with constant beeping. The iPad was drawing about 2 amps, same as it did in my 12-14V truck with no warning. My airplane system usually runs close to 28V in flight. So, 26.3V... Too much or too little?BEST ANSWER: 26.3 volts would be too low to charge a "24V" battery. If you are not experiencing progressive battery discharge with your airplane, most likely you have a voltage drop with the circuits between the battery and the phone charger.
First make sure cigarette-lighter socket is clean, and the phone charger is snug when plugged-in. Next possible problem would be the connection behind the cig-socket, then the circuit breaker, followed by the master switch.
Similar things to check with the car, (except the master and circuit breaker).
Mine works without beeping in my car, but beeps in my brothers' van during engine start.
In a typical rental plane, mine beeps when cutting the alternator breaker when checking the charging system during runup.
Note- try cleaning the cig-sockets with a small wire-brush, BUT, make sure master is OFF! - Otherwise you'll short-out the lighter circuit, and with the car, you should disconnect one of the battery terminals...Why does it beep on a 12 volt system?BEST ANSWER: It will beep if the voltage drops below 12 volts.is this filtered to avoid interference with avionics?BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is filtered. My aircraft accessory port is rated at 2A max at 24V. Will the 2A draw be exceeded when charging two devices at 5V and 2.4A? In other words, what is the current draw at 24V?BEST ANSWER: The unit should not draw more the 2.4A at 5V.How much noise does this charger generate and how was it measured? Does it interfere with a Bluetooth interface between an external GPS and iPad?BEST ANSWER: The manufacturer does not list how much noise is produced by this item. The charging cable may not be shielded well. This is more likely the problem than the charger. Is this made in the U.S.?BEST ANSWER: This item is made in China.I have one of these, and it only shows 1 amp draw for my ipad mini 2 and my Iphone 6+. I think that they should each be drawing 2+ amps. Do I have a defective unit?BEST ANSWER: The iPad and iPhone will only draw 2+ amps when the battery is really low. If the battery for the iPad and iPhone is almost completely charge it will only draw the 1 amp.One of the reviewers mentioned it is not able to charge the iPad, but only maintain the charge. Can someone confirm or provide some more details? Thank you.BEST ANSWER: This device is able to charge the iPad.Can I use this in my car as well?BEST ANSWER: Yes it can be used in a car. Will this work in my car?BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will work in your car. What is the wattage output?BEST ANSWER: It puts out 2.4 amps on both ports.I need to know if the reach on the end of the device will reach 1.5" into the socket. If it is shorter than that it will not contact the power at the bottom of the socket?BEST ANSWER: Yes it will reach 1.5" into the socket.
