Only a matter of time before I lose it. I should have read other reviews before I bought it. Not expensive so it's not a big deal, more of an aggrevation.February 17, 2017Durability3 / 5Reliability1 / 5Performance1 / 5Ease Of Use1 / 5Value2 / 5Two Big ProblemsWhen I first used this tester I found the metal end to have a large diameter such that the fuel has little room to drain around it and it's too slow to fill. The biggest problem is that the metal piece fits loosely and when I poured the fuel back into my tank the metal piece fell into the tank along with the fuel. this is a poorly designed item made in China.July 4, 2016Durability1 / 5Reliability1 / 5Performance1 / 5Ease Of Use1 / 5Value1 / 5Cons: Bad design. metal pin does not fully sit inside container, thus being loose. During my first use, after taking fuel samples, went to dispense fuel back into wing tanks and metal pin fell off into the inside of the fuel cell. Had spent a considerable amount of time trying to extract metal pin from fuel cell.January 23, 2015Durability4 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Pros: - Well Made - Has a nice little screw driver in the tip (not that you would really use it for repairs) - Light - Durable Cons: - The pin that actually depresses the fuel nozzle is inserted when you get it, mine floated around for the first few uses but it stays in nice now. This is one of those products that is so simple its kind of hard to mess up. The one here is well made, does what it should and comes at a nice price. I was required to get one by my flight school and they were selling them for like $15 so this one represented a better value for me. The screw driver is a nice addition but I cant really see it being good for anything serious. I use it to poke at things mainly, but its nice they throw it in there. It also adds some weight to the thing so its not just flying around in your bag. As I mentioned in the con, the pin that pushes the fuel valve is inserted when you get the tester. Mine was a bit lose until I used it a few times and it set into place. I was a bit scared it was going to fall into the tank when I dumped the gas back in but its been fine thus far.October 22, 2014Durability4 / 5Reliability4 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Very nice basic strainer. No thrills, but none needed. Seems to be the same as I fist saw back in the 80s! Does it's job fine, have had it about a year with no problems. Hasn't chipped, cracked, etc. Why spend more?July 2, 2014Durability4 / 5Reliability4 / 5Performance4 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value3 / 5Pros: Good size, screwdriver makes cowl opening and closing easy. Cons: Hard to read molded in color labels, metal pin comes out pretty easily. Kind of hard to read the molded in color guide for fuel type but unless you use different fuels you'll know what color to expect. The metal pin isn't retained well enough and will sometimes fall out when dumping the sample. Not too bad if you are tossing it out, not so good if you are putting it back in the tank.May 23, 2014Durability3 / 5Reliability3 / 5Performance3 / 5Ease Of Use3 / 5Value4 / 5Pros: Cheap, and does the job. I do like the screwdriver attachment. Cons: The metal insert for the wing drain valve doesn't really stay in place and is prone to falling out, or not seating right. I expect to have it fall out and get lost at some point during ownership.January 23, 2014Durability4 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance4 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Pros: Simple, easy to use. Cons: The metal pin is easy to lose. Overall, I'm pleased with this product and I don't have to worry about looking for one when I go to fly my training aircraft.August 3, 2013Durability4 / 5Reliability4 / 5Performance1 / 5Ease Of Use3 / 5Value2 / 5Cons: Screwdriver tip too long & narrow to seat fully into airplane cowling screws. Every other fuel tester tip has fit perfectly.April 2, 2013
