3 weeks agoDurability1 / 5Reliability1 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value1 / 5Used once and then it has failed.When I first plugged in the battery was low and the low voltage alarm went off.
Did not know there was a low voltage alarm. It is nice, but was really hard to locate what was buzzing in our Cessna 140. Glad I was still on ground.
Next time I went to use it would not light up nor charge. Went through tests in plane and pickup. Charger seems to have failed.
Glad I did not use it in the Cessna 310.
Will try another new one because it is a nice system.
Especially since we know it has an alarm for low voltage.February 4, 2018Durability4 / 5Reliability4 / 5Performance2 / 5Ease Of Use2 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?NoBeeping is a ProblemWorks great, cranks out the amps (on my 28V system) without getting hot. Trouble is during taxi or other idle power setting circumstances the unit is frequently giving an audible low voltage alarm. My system voltage reads about 25 volts during those times. The beeping is too distracting, and no way to turn it off, so this product is unusable for my application.January 15, 2018Durability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Would You Recommend?YesUSB charger/voltmeterI use this in my cars, too. and for troubleshooting the charging system in my vehicles.January 7, 2018Purchased

Even without a charging cord attached, plug in the charger and Foreflight will shortly complain that ADS-B disconnected. Unplug the charger and ADS-B comes right back.
Otherwise this seems like a good unit for the price, though the beeping when voltage is low can be a bit annoying and can't be configured.December 29, 2017Durability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value4 / 5Would You Recommend?YesVery HandyDelivery was as usual, prompt! A touch pricey but appears to be a great piece of equipment. I purchased 2. One for my Flight bag and the other for my wife’s suv. So far it works great.December 29, 2017Purchased

2 months agoDurability4 / 5Reliability4 / 5Performance4 / 5Ease Of Use2 / 5Value4 / 5Would You Recommend?YesIt beepsNowhere in the specs does it mention an audible alarm. It is a bit disconcerting when hooked up and during engine cranking the audible alarm sounds. It does stop when the alternator kicks in after start but some warning would be nice. Pilot and copilot had no idea what the alarm was. Subsequently it was isolated to the charger. The display is not readable in daylight in the cockpit. However, it does keep up and charges the iPad during flight. I'm generally satisfied but unlike Sporty's to overlook the audible alarm in the specs/instructions/product description.December 25, 2017Purchased

Browse 17 questions Browse 17 questions and 31 answersIf the DC input is listed as 12v to 24v, and since airplanes with a 24v battery use 28v internally, won't such an airplane exceed the specs of the device? [On July 3 I had smoke in the cockpit during flight when another brand USB charger started overheating and melting. Proper specs and high quality are necessary in the cockpit environment.]BEST ANSWER: This device is designed to work with both 24V and 12 V aircraft system. What voltage will it work with?BEST ANSWER: This unit will work with both 12 and 24 volt systems. Will this unit cause noise on my radios?BEST ANSWER: It should not cause noise on the radios.Has anyone tested this with an IPAD running Foreflight on long flights? My other 2A chargers don't keep up.BEST ANSWER: I have used this device many times now with my iPad Air running the Garmin Pilot app in a Skylane. It performs as specified delivering 2.4 amps from each output which will keep both devices connected fully charged indefinitely. One possible negative is that on a 12vdc source it will beep continuously. BTW, I had previously used 3 different Dual 2.4 USB Cigarette Lighter Chargers #6588A. Each of them only delivered 1.0 amps per output and therefore unable to hold a charge on a single iPad which would eventual die on a long flight.Has this been tested for EMI that degrades performance of avionics, especially, but not limited to, GPS navigators?BEST ANSWER: I fly a 1956 Cessna 180 VFR only. I fly with an iPad with a Bad Elf GPS. I have not noticed any changes with the Bad Elf or my Garmin 396 GPS. I have not noticed any change to VHF radio static either. I love this charger! The charger for a garmin 696 will work. My car charger for my iPhone won't. Will this work?BEST ANSWER: What are you trying to charge?Does this unit have an internal fuse? if so, what is the amp rating?BEST ANSWER: This charger does not have a fuse, but uses a built in "smart circuit" design that protects from overcharging and aslo over current.Today with 26.3 V connected, external power, to my 24 V airplane, all was well until I connected my iPad. Shortly after I got a red blinking warning along with constant beeping. The iPad was drawing about 2 amps, same as it did in my 12-14V truck with no warning. My airplane system usually runs close to 28V in flight. So, 26.3V... Too much or too little?BEST ANSWER: 26.3 volts would be too low to charge a "24V" battery. If you are not experiencing progressive battery discharge with your airplane, most likely you have a voltage drop with the circuits between the battery and the phone charger.
First make sure cigarette-lighter socket is clean, and the phone charger is snug when plugged-in. Next possible problem would be the connection behind the cig-socket, then the circuit breaker, followed by the master switch.
Similar things to check with the car, (except the master and circuit breaker).
Mine works without beeping in my car, but beeps in my brothers' van during engine start.
In a typical rental plane, mine beeps when cutting the alternator breaker when checking the charging system during runup.
Note- try cleaning the cig-sockets with a small wire-brush, BUT, make sure master is OFF! - Otherwise you'll short-out the lighter circuit, and with the car, you should disconnect one of the battery terminals...My aircraft accessory port is rated at 2A max at 24V. Will the 2A draw be exceeded when charging two devices at 5V and 2.4A? In other words, what is the current draw at 24V?BEST ANSWER: The unit should not draw more the 2.4A at 5V.How much noise does this charger generate and how was it measured? Does it interfere with a Bluetooth interface between an external GPS and iPad?BEST ANSWER: The manufacturer does not list how much noise is produced by this item. The charging cable may not be shielded well. This is more likely the problem than the charger. Is this made in the U.S.?BEST ANSWER: This item is made in China.I have one of these, and it only shows 1 amp draw for my ipad mini 2 and my Iphone 6+. I think that they should each be drawing 2+ amps. Do I have a defective unit?BEST ANSWER: The iPad and iPhone will only draw 2+ amps when the battery is really low. If the battery for the iPad and iPhone is almost completely charge it will only draw the 1 amp.One of the reviewers mentioned it is not able to charge the iPad, but only maintain the charge. Can someone confirm or provide some more details? Thank you.BEST ANSWER: This device is able to charge the iPad.Can I use this in my car as well?BEST ANSWER: Yes it can be used in a car. Will this work in my car?BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will work in your car. What is the wattage output?BEST ANSWER: It puts out 2.4 amps on both ports.I need to know if the reach on the end of the device will reach 1.5" into the socket. If it is shorter than that it will not contact the power at the bottom of the socket?BEST ANSWER: Yes it will reach 1.5" into the socket.
