Passed my checkride~!
Passed my checkride and the written, Sporty's course was a big help in solidifying the foundations. I will say that other materials are required to really get the details, but these are easier to understand once you've gotten the concepts in living color from the professional quality videos and graphics. And of course practice, practice, practice. Now, if sporty's would just release a Commercial pilot version, I could go 3 for 3!

Great training course with awesome video
This training courses is completely great. I spent hundred hours for watching all the video. They did a very good job, all the video it's clearly understand. By watched the video, my knowledge getting better more than i expected and i get a very good result with 95% for written test and pass check ride for the first tried. Thank you to give me such a great course like this. The only thing that i think you need to improve is you should add subtitles into the video because I'm not a native English person so sometime it's hard for me to follow the video. Anyway if you're struggle with the IR training, this one it's your solutions.

Excellent value in instrument instruction
I went to a three day school and didn't learn as much as I have in this course. Great presentation in nice little bite sized chunks.

Pros: + Very flexible since it is an iPad App and downloaded very quickly + Easy to see the whole overview of the course + Feature for forwarding with swipe of your finger + Good flow for the course + Able to watch the videos both online or download for later viewing + Will work on all your devices so that you can view flash cards on phone while waiting somewhere Cons: - Some of the videos seem dated I got both the DVD and the iPad App (using iPad 3 + LTE). I really love the App compared to DVD. It is more portable and easy to use. I like the fact that you can view the course on multiple iOS devices. Especially useful to see the flashcards on your iPhone. I would highly recommend this.

Pros: About 14 hours of video. Purchased four days before my CFI-I Practical and aced the test after watching the videos. I even used some of the video's graphics during the Oral to explain instruments and weather. Sporty's IFR course is the best. It's a very professional presentation with high quality graphics and video. It's not cheesy like the husband and wife team. Sporty's course is also very straight-forward, unlike the national chart publisher whose courses are disjointed and rarely address topics directly.

Excellent product
Just earned my instrument ticket on September 23, 2015. I could not have done it without this course. It more than prepared me for my written and oral. It, and a lot of practice, prepared me for my flight test. Highly recommended!

So far so good...
Well one out of the three tests knocked out, passed the written with an 82 using the Sporty's app and the FAA handbook. Probably could have gotten higher, but was lucky enough to get a test that had a few questions I don't think were covered in the practice tests. But a pass is a pass, and now just cranking through the lessons. The videos are helpful to go back and review after the lesson (as well as before). Well done as always!!

Helped me pass the test
I was happy that I purchased the iPad instrument rating course. It helped me in several areas and I know that it took less flight lessons to be ready for the test. It also helped me a lot with the oral portion of the check ride.

how long is online access?
A shopper on Aug 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There is no expiration date - you get free updates delivered automatically.
I want to have the availability to use this while I travel commercially, where I don't always have an internet connection. If I get the Ipad/Iphone app choice, can I access it also on my Mac Computer offline if I download it?
craig w on Sep 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You don't even have to go go the Mac if you don't want to. On the Ipad version it gives you the option of streaming the video, or downloading it. If you're going on a trip, just download 5 or 10 episodes or however many you think you can watch in the time span you'll be gone. It just takes up your data on the iPad, so when you're done or return home, delete them off of your device.
I'm looking at buying an iPad- but I'm not sure how much memory space I need for Sporty's and other aviation apps, etc. can you give me an idea what kind of space Sporty's requires?
Thank you
Daniel S on Sep 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Agree with the other answer. On my iPhone, which is the same as the iPad, under settings it tells me the Instrument course only takes up 73.3MB. You stream the videos. There is an option to download videos, if you are going out of wifi or for whatever reason want to have access to the video where you cannot otherwise stream it. But if you don't download the videos and store them on your local memory (iPad or iPhone) then the program itself only takes approx. 75MB...not much.

How long does it take to complete the course?
Randy W on Feb 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The course has 23 hours of video.
How much space do the videos take?
Andrew C on Feb 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Approximately 129Mb. This is without downloading the videos.
Do you get an endorsement, after completing the course satisfactorily, to take the knowledge test? Or must you still have a cfi signoff?
Ed W on Jan 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We will provide the signoff - no CFI required.

steve k on Oct 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You can use the online course on your iPad (in the web browser), but your purchase does not unlock the iOS app version. That is a separate purchase.
iOS 10 compatability; iOS 10.0.2 just came out. Has there been any problems downloading the app from the app store? I'm about to buy the instrument rating course but somehow I can't download the app.
