    Pros

Built like a tank. Very rugged feel to it.

    Great features (VOR/CDI)

    Clean, easy-to-read display

    Cons

SMA antenna connector isn't my favorite (wish it had a BNC connector).

Tower reported my audio on transmit wasn't as crisp as my David Clark headset and the airplane radio

    General Comments

Great insurance at a cheap price.

    Good investment
    Pros

Good price for features. Battery stays charged for many months. Very wonderful back up as many rental planes have less than great radios. Have used it once during a actual radio failure and it worked great. Also very nice to listen in to whats going on around the airport and to listen to AWOS or ATIS with out having the aircrafts master on.

    Cons

Some features are a little hard to remember how to use so keep the book available.

    General Comments

Good investment in your safety in the event of a radio failure. Has the adapter for headset use with it.

    Works Great!
    Pros

Sturdy, loud and clear audio, strong transmissions (FBO could hear me from 10 miles out), NAV functions work as expected, great backup and nice to have around on the ground, battery life

    Cons

Belt clip was a little confusing to figure out at first, but is handy once you understand it

    General Comments

I would recommend this transciever for any pilot looking for something to carry around the ramp to hear comms before start up, and to have as a backup inside the plane.

    Pros

Good reception and sound quality. Solid construction.

    Cons

Need to thoroughly review manual and practice with the unit for some time in order to take advantage of all of the features. Ni-MH batteries tend to self-discharge a little more quickly.

    General Comments

    Pros

Cost effective radio for backup and just monitoring AWOS, ATIS, and Unicom for your effective airport. Very well built and durable.

    Cons

Some say that programming is hard, I found it very easy other than it not a quick process, but worth the effort.

    General Comments

I would recommend this product to all.

    Pros

Many Features. Hefty handheld that feels like it could take a beating. Good clarity. Great reception. Good battery run time. Great size, fits easily in hand but not too small. Comes with headset adapter.

    Cons

While the keypad and screen is backlit, the 2nd function labels on the key pad are not.

The planes I rent all have mono ICS/Radio set up, this unit seems to only have stereo . I'd have to switch modes on my headset during an emergency for proper reception.

Some features and settings are cryptic and ill explained in the manual (this is more of a manual problem than radio problem).

    General Comments

I purchased his radio as backup/emergency and it fits the bill.

Out of the box it's easy to use as a basic com/nav.

Expanded features take a little hunting and pecking, re-reading the manual and keeping track of the knobology. However, this seems par for the course for handhelds.

Great reception. I can hear the local CTAF while indoors, 7 miles away.

    Pros

The memory scan feature is excellent for listening to several frequencies in your area from the ground.

    Cons

A longer antenna would probably pick-up further when on the ground.

    General Comments

Should be very useful in case of comm or nav equipment failure or for cross checking operability.
