General CommentsI am a student pilot with about 40 hours, currently working on cross-country flight. I purchased this pen/pencil holder after experiencing the weary feeling of an unorganized cockpit during my first dual cross-country. Searching for the pencil loops in my kneeboard amidst the charts, nav logs, and radio frequencies caused undue stress when looking for something to write with. This pen/pencil holder was the perfect solution as it was easy to mount (I used the suction cups due to the fact that I fly a rented aircraft), and easy to use... above and away from the miriad of paper on my lap. The price is perfect as this is a simple piece of equipment that make your life in the cross-country cockpit much, much more pleasant. |

Sometimes you need a pen or pencil and just can't find it, but this really eliminates that problem. I keep one on each side of the plane. They don't take up much space at all and they hold a lot of pens. If you're like me and make basically daily long-distance flights, this thing is unbelievably handy. I don't have to run around the house like a lunatic looking for a pen/pencil before a flight anymore because I know there's several stuck to each side of the cockpit. I stick mine in the corner of the windshield by the door, but they come with suction cups and double-sided tape, so I guess you could put it pretty much anywhere. With the way the pens are held in place, which is pretty secure without being a pain to remove, you could actually stick one of these to the ceiling and grab them as-needed. ConsNone really. If you honestly do a lot of flying, or really any flying outside of your local pattern, and you don't need pens/pencils, you're doing something seriously wrong. Maybe they could offer this product in different colors, but that isn't so much a con as a wish list. General CommentsPilots need this thing. It's not just an IFR pilot need, either. A VFR pilot may not understand the true value of a handy pen until he/she is approaching a Class C airport and then has to start taking down a laundry list of information from approach and then the tower. I don't think any of us can honestly and seriously say that we don't need a pen in the cockpit for any flight outside the pattern, and experience will teach you that clutter in the cockpit = more stuff to start flying around like you're in a Cessna pinata the first time you tangle with turbulence. Keep your pens handy, keep your pens organized, by this little widget and keep the pen gremlins out of your cockpit, and yes, they are out there and they do steal your pens at critical times. |
