They seem to prefer being charged before storage. If the Gps unit is run from aircraft power,I don't believe the battery is charged adequately. ConsI am aware that ALL batteries eventuall fail to take or keep a charge. But I would have expected that the original Garmin battery would have lasted longer than it did.
