You will need to apply to strips of non-skid material to the bottom so it doesn't slide around on your leg

I like being able to mount my timer on sticky velcro, BUT being left-handed, it's on the wrong side for me. I miss all the handy information that my VFR knee board has. The light shown in the illustration (purchased separately) doesn't work very well with this board. It keeps falling off. The strap does not attach to the board firmly and keeps getting lost in my flight bag.

    General Comments

On the whole, I wish I had purchased something else. It was cheap enough, but now I know why.

The way that the back is contoured to fit your leg makes it sit higher up on your leg and gets in the way of the yolk.

    General Comments

I think that a board that is flat to the leg is a better choice. Flying a 172 Cessna, this board doesnt leave much room for maneuvering.

    Pros

fits on your leg snuggly and doesn't roll, around like the flat backed boards. Has a pen holder and the extra tab is excellent for mounting a clock or pad

    Cons

the strap is not attched on either side just hooks in place, holds on your leg well but when not in use, the strap falls off and you spend time trying to locate it.

    Pros

additional space is great for connecting a timer for IFR operations.

    Cons

Strap is flimsy and hooks on both ends so it easily falls off and is lost since it is never permenantly attached to the clip board.

The only downside to this kneeboard is you must purchase a vfr or ifr placard if you need the extra info. Also the strap system is horrible and when I was flying around just the other day it kept coming undone. I did take my old knee board strap and just used that instead of the one that comes with the knee board.

    Cons

a bit bulky, but not really an issue.

    Pros

Totally awesome kneeboard! Perfect size. Holds very well.

    Cons

Didnt come with a pencil holder or VFR/IFR placards.

    General Comments

I got this, the VFR placards, and the little pen clips. now I have a complete knee board setup. I applied a lage velcro square to the mount surface and I put my Electronic E6B there, and it works very well in flight. I love this thing!

    Pros

Very comfortable while in use, great 2" strap - holds well, will last and not tear out from the frame like others do.

    Cons

    Pencil/pen holder easy to break.

    General Comments

Overall a good stable board in use and a good value.

    Pros

The tab was a very handy place to put sticky notes or other equipment without cluttering up the main clipboard area.

    Cons

The bottom side of the board is not flat and has a curved thigh rest. Because of this, the board sits 2-3" high on your leg. For me, being short, this extra height inhibited full movement of the control wheel and I had to return the item.

    General Comments

Would not recommend for shorter pilots because of the cons stated above.

    Pros

It holds a GPS unit or in my case a pocket PC and does so firmly. It's built well. Nice adjustable strap. Stays secure to my leg.

    Cons

Pen clip doesn't work great - it's dropped several pencils already while in flight. GPS angle isn't always ideal - much flatter than in the picture obviously, thus forcing leg movement during flight from time to time to read - it can also get in the way of some flight controls by being counter-balanced to the right. Not a big deal though. Clip board is small, and unlike my other knee board it doesn't allow for easy storage of sectionals and the such.

    General Comments

I'm not 100% on this item. Sometimes I fly with it, sometimes I don't. It's probably as good as can be expected, but not quite ideal. It does keep my flight computer and backup GPS close at hand, but I have to make sure the sectionals are within reach.
