The cost is a little high for something that is coated cardboard but it does work as advertised. |

It's not so much that it is essential, but it is more useful to make you think and plan for all the variables that need to be considered when taking off from "not the usual". Most useful for high density altitudes, non standard temperatures, and non standard surfaces and gradients. Just what this tool accomplishes, well. It makes you think. ConsConstruction could be a little more stout. "Amazingly simple" might be somewhat of an over statement, but considering all the variables to be considered, it is an ingenious device. The temp range is too far outside the normal flying range. But the thing that makes this hard to use is that the slides from one value move when you are trying to put in the next value to compute the required runway for take-off. The cuts on the strips are not level, so pulling one pulls them all. It takes a lot of manipulation to get things to "stay". I will not be able to do that in-flight. Waste of money. |
