All-Weather Tie Down Kits
Notes
These modern all-weather tie-downs are easy to use; with one quick pull the rope is taut. Features coated snap hooks for secure connections. Each kit contains three extra long tie down straps (two 9' & one 6') that are rated up to 3000 lbs. each and fit either high or low wing aircraft. Optional personalized embroidery (up to six characters including spaces) can be added to the bag—perfect for N-numbers. Available in black, red or royal. | The "hook" on the end is so "beefy" that it will not fit the "eye" on the Claw Tie Down System.I know it was not intended for this,but would that not be better than the rope that comes with the Claw.? The system certainly locks the aircraft down more securely than regular tie down ropes. ConsThey Rust, and are easily broken. Seems like the materials could be better selected for outdoor durability. The security latches that protect the tie down hooks from coming off the tie down rings were unusable within a few weeks. General CommentsI wish I could find a better made system than these tie downs. I am on my second set. My previous set was no more than 1 year in service before they had to be replaced. Two issues arrose. Firstly, the metal ends rusted. What is the point of creating a system for the outdoors that does not stand up to the weather? Secondly, the latches and metal parts are easily damaged and rendered unusable. These tie downs are left in my tie down spot when I am flying. The gas truck or someone else ran over the metal parts. These crushed easily, and one of the latches broke. I was unable to undo the tie downs at the next flight and had to cut them off. Because of lack of choice, I bought a new set. Now I carefully protect the ends when I untie the aircraft, and as soon as I get hold of some old aircraft tires, I plan adding those to my tie down spot to try to protect my tie downs. |
