Made for ForeFlight

Stratus™ is the simple-to-use, pocket-sized, wireless receiver that transforms your iPad into the ultimate flight tool. Get subscription-free weather, GPS information and ADS-B traffic – all integrated with ForeFlight Mobile. The new Stratus 1S is an incredible value, but features the same pilot-friendly design that has made Stratus the best-selling ADS-B receiver in aviation.

Subscription-free in-flight weather

In-flight weatherYou can view in-flight weather on your iPad, including NEXRAD radar, METARs, TAFs, TFRs, AIRMETs, SIGMETs, NOTAMs and more. It's updated every 5-10 minutes and there are no subscription fees – ever. Stratus Replay allows you to turn off the iPad screen in flight and save battery; when you turn the screen on again, Stratus will automatically send all the weather information you missed. Also includes animated radar, so you can monitor trends in a storm. Just tap the play button.

Single band ADS-B traffic

TrafficStratus 1S includes a single band (978 MHz) ADS-B receiver so it can display traffic information right on the ForeFlight Maps page. See relative altitude, climb/descent rate and projected track. Picks up aircraft equipped with 978 MHz ADS-B Out as well as some aircraft equipped with Mode C transponders (via ADS-B rebroadcast). Note: ADS-B traffic is limited unless your aircraft has ADS-B Out installed in the panel.

WAAS GPS unlocks track up and terrain

TerrainWith the built-in WAAS GPS receiver, Stratus allows you to view moving maps, track up displays and high resolution terrain maps in ForeFlight. The smart GPS locks on fast and typically provides 1 meter accuracy. Replaces the need for a separate GPS receiver--Stratus has it all!

The Stratus Platform

Seamless integration with ForeFlight Mobile

ForeFlightStratus is the only ADS-B receiver that works with ForeFlight, aviation’s most popular app. That’s because Stratus was designed from the ground up to integrate with the app, so you can view complete status information right from the moving map page. Stratus simply works the right way.

Works with Apple Watch

Apple WatchWith a Stratus on board and connected to iPhone, ADS-B weather is delivered right to ForeFlight for Apple Watch. Easily view current METARs for airports in your recents and favorites lists. A customizable dashboard of flight instruments is also available, which helps you keep track of information like ETE, ETA, distance to destination, track, ground speed, GPS altitude, and more.

Designed to work with the stratus ESG transponder

ADS-B outGet a complete traffic picture when you add Stratus ESG - the only ADS-B Out transponder made specifically for Stratus. This all-in-one solution, which includes a built-in WAAS GPS, meets the 2020 FAA mandate, and offers improved reception and full-time power for your Stratus portable. Certification planned for early 2016.

Pilot-friendly design

  • Easy one button operation - just turn it on and fly.
  • Completely wireless - can be mounted anywhere.
  • Outstanding battery life - over 8 hours for all-day flying.
  • Enhanced reception - no external antennas required.
  • Optional WiFi security setting - ideal for airline operations.

  • Rugged USB-C charging connector - same as found on new Macbooks.

Brings situational awareness to a new level
This affordable device brings almost real time digital weather and radar into the cockpit for ForeFlight users. Enroute and arrival planning become more precise and safer with solid weather information that can sometimes be hard to obtain from weak ATIS/ASOS transmitters.

You Will Not Be Disappointed
The Stratus met my expectations...and my expectations were super high. I used it on a trip last weekend when the temperature was 103 degrees. I placed it on the window just aft of an air vent and had zero issues. The suction cup mount is extremely strong. I highly recommend this product.

Great product, needs more mounting options
After much reviewing of ADS-b in options, I went with the Stratus 1S to pair with my Foreflight on my IPAD. This is a perfect combination for a number of software compatibility reasons.
The 1S is REALLY SIMPLE to operate, and runs at least 6-8 hours on a full charge (I actually have not "run it out of battery" in a day of flying yet. Recharge takes a few hours once home.
The information I receive is fantastic! I fly a Piper Cub and a Cessna 172 routinely for business, and my 1S accompanies me in both for much better weather and traffic SA. I have not had any GPS or traffic information issues.

My only gripe, is that the suction cup mount does fall off the window at times (scary on an airplane with an open side door), and the panel mount is fine, except in the southeast, a panel mount tends to cook most anything. I would like to see Stratus offer another RAM ball mount option, to mount it more securely than the suction cup on a window option.
Overall, I am very pleased with the Stratus 1S and will buy the ESG for ADS-b out in a few months so I will have the full enchilada.

Great for summer flying in Florida!
I just brought this in advance of a flight to Key West, Florida. Used it with ForeFlight and I can say it is one of the best flying investments I've made. Worked great. Gave an excellent picture of thunderstorms throughout the 400 mile trip. Highly recommended!

Stratus and Foreflight
We fly aerial surveys inside Balt Wash and not only does this give us unprecedented Navigation on charts but the added traffic alerts from ADS-B in is welcomed relief.

Great tool-especially when renting an aircraft
Although I have all of the features in my experimental, when I rent, having the GPS features as well as the ADS-B makes for a more complete aircraft.

Solid Investment
I tried the low cost knock-off product, and believe me, the real deal is worth the investment. Solid unit, and easy to use. My testing showed 8+ hours of battery life. Good traffic and weather reception.

I usually fly on the weekend so the debate is to get the 1S or spend the extra money for the 2S. Not sure which one i want to purchase?
A shopper on Nov 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bought the 1S because I wanted access to METARs and radar while in the air. From what I can tell, the advantage of the 2S is the AHARS (backup attitude indicator) and the dual-band traffic. However, the reviews told me that the traffic is incomplete anyway (I think it will be until everyone has ADS-B out anyway), and the airplanes I usually fly have AHARS and backup vacuum instruments, making the advantages of the 2S not worth the extra money.
Single band vs dual band ads b?
A shopper on Aug 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bought the Stratus 1S and flew from Florida to Oregon, single pilot, VFR and was very glad to have it. Weather in the cockpit is irreplaceable and helped in my decision making. Traffic was called out and visible but I was sure to keep in mind that it was only traffic that was equipped with ADS-B Out; there was still other traffic that wasn't depicted (important to remember). Did I miss that I didn't have synthetic vision? Nope. I flew day VFR and didn't need it.
