Oshkosh 2011 a success for Sporty's
John Zimmerman
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is always a highlight for aviation enthusiasts, and this year's big fly-in was as good as ever. Sporty's booth was packed the entire week with friends and customers, many of them interested in the popular SP-400 Hand-held NAV/COM and some great deals on Garmin GPSs. In addition, the iPad was the buzz of the show, and thousands of attendees came by Sporty's for some helpful iPad tips, plus the latest iPad GPSs, kneeboards and mounts.
Sporty's also presented three forums at Oshkosh, all to large crowds. Two sessions on "Flying with the iPad" were standing-room only, and the hour-long session is packed with tips and tricks on how to get started with the iPad and how to make the most of it in the cockpit. Another forum on "Flying with Cockpit Video Cameras" explained the many uses of mini-HD cameras, and how best to use them for flight instruction or cross-country flying.
In addition, Sporty's 2012 Skycatcher Sweepstakes airplane was on display all week in Cessna's booth. This brand new Cessna 162 Skycatcher, serial number 100, will be awarded to one lucky Sporty's customer next year at Sporty's Fly-in.
