Introduced in the late 1960s, the Boeing 737 is one aircraft that most would be hard pressed to forget. Developed as a narrow-body, twin engine jet as the successor to the 707 type, it took on quieter, more powerful, and efficient attributes that allowed it to surpass its competition. Even decades into the 21st century, it remains the best-selling airliner, serving thousands of airlines and hundreds of countries since its introduction.

Around 115-130 passengers can be seated in the early 737-200 variants, with a standard crew of two in the cockpit. Unlike the larger 727 airliner, there was no need for an additional member to fill the flight engineer role. Powering the aircraft are a pair of Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines which create around 33,000 lbs of combined thrust on takeoff, permitting an altitude ceiling of 37,000 ft, cruising speed of 593 mph and maximum weight of 128,000 lbs.

Manufactured as a Boeing 737-297 under registration N70723, this aircraft was leased from Aloha Airlines from 1983 until 1988, receiving the nickname “Clipper Luftikus” on its travels. During this time, it wore the traditional blue, silver, and white livery that Pan Am is recognized by, with the distinctive globe on the tail as featured in the model. Die-Cast version features an accurate paint scheme, etched panel lines, pad printed decals, and detailed landing gear for display. Measures 6.25”l with a 5.75” wingspan at 1:200 scale.
