Cord to short
when you buy the large unit for 630 dollars plus shipping, you would expect that the cord would be long enough to work in a 6 seat C310, and 50 bucks for an extension that should be included with a unit meant for larger planes is ridiculous.
Not possible to completely empty cooler with pump, and bulky to remove from plane and pour out

Little Pricey, but WOW!!!
I have a T182 and live in Pheonix. I have now done 2 flights with this little beauty, both in full sun 100+ temps. Keeps the cabin cool. It is easy to set up, and works as advertised. With 2 12lb blocks of ice, a 10lb bag of ice, and a gallon of refrigerated water, I got 2.75 hours of cool cabin with it running on high. A 65lb weight penalty, yes. But arriving 2.5 hours later and no sweat, totally refreshed; find something else to not take, because this will be going. Durability remains to be seen, but mine will get used.

Pros: Cools passengers in back well but on a really hot day does not carry cool air much past one seat. Cons: put it in a C206. Had to buy a $25 extension to place it in the cargo compartment. Vent hoses flop around. Have to run the battery to pump out the water. Needs a manual drain hose

Pros: Easy to set up and use. Looks well made. Works as advertised. Cons: A little pricey, but what in aviation isn't? Fans could put out a little more air. After suffering 100 degree days and not wanting to be on the taxiway in a hotbox, I decided to give the Artic Air a try. On a 101 degree afternoon, it brought the air temp down to a tolerable 75 degrees in the cockpit of my Cessna 320F. It goes through ice quickly when set on high on the really hot days so I'm glad I bought the 52 quart. You can expect to get the cooling times listed with a full cooler of ice. Would I buy it again after using it? Yes!

How many watts does these units use? Would like to know for both the single and dual fan. I'm thinking about getting this and rigging a solar panel for use when my truck is not running. I travel a lot and My wife likes to have fun in the truck if you know what I mean, so this will save me gas and wear and tear from the truck idling. Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: The 2 fan 12v unit uses ~10 amps. That equates to 120W in a 12 volt system. Not sure about the single fan unit, but I'm assuming it's somewhere around 80-90 watts.
Must you put water with the ice or can you freeze milk jugs of water?
A shopper on Jul 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The device works by pumping cold WATER thru the heat exchanger. You have to have some water in the reservoir or the pump will cavitation and/or pump nothing. You would get very little (like 1%) cooling without water to act as the heat exchange medium.
Will this work in a pressurized airplane ?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will work in a pressurized aircraft.
