Should have had an ANR headset years ago and Bose came highly recommended. It is expensive but quality in aviation usually is and worth the money if you can swing it.December 5, 2017Purchased
1 year agoWould You Recommend?NoNot as comfortable as Lightspeed ZuluMy husband and I agree the Lightspeed Zulu is a more comfortable headset. And for the money, it isn't worth the extra cost for a Bose.
It is much more clamping.
Also, the wool pad on the top is itchy and not very padded.November 18, 2017Purchased

Upgraded my aircraft that takes both twin and six pin. I have decided to use the six pin outlets and didn't hesitate to buy Bose.September 29, 2017Purchased
1 year agoDurability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5Chose this one after comparing, glad I didI tried a comparable Lightspeed and this Bose. I flew with both and the Lightspeed did not fit my head as well, no matter how I tried to adjust it. I would still get in some outside noise. I love that Sporty's allows us to try and return. I chose the Bose and am very happy now after over a year of use. I am a woman and so probably have a smaller head size. Maybe that was the issue with the Lightspeed. As to the bluetooth, I decided I wanted the simpler model as I am not on my phone much in the plane (generally just to pick up a clearance). It is very easy to use the cord to plug into my iphone and into the headset. I hear my phone very clearly. I highly recommend this headset for performance and comfort.February 27, 2017Durability5 / 5Reliability5 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value5 / 5AWESOME!!!!!Can't believe how AWESOME they are! Don't settle for less, get the best!February 10, 2017Durability4 / 5Reliability4 / 5Performance5 / 5Ease Of Use5 / 5Value4 / 5Great Headset So FarThis review is based on use in a Boeing 717. I have taken this headset on one four day trip and really like it so far. I almost purchased this back when I was on the 757/767 but kept waffling on spending a grand on a headset. Previously I was using a Telex 5x5 pro. I will start by saying the 717 cockpit is not particularly loud by airliner standards. Unlike most GA planes the bulk of the noise is from avionics and A/C air along with window leaks, followed by slipstream noise. After my Telex headset broke and I found it was flat rate $150 to fix it I was pushed toward the Bose. I wasn't going to spend that on a 20 year old headset repair. I figured that if I had to spend $300-400 on a new standard headset this was the time to fork over the premium for a Bose. My first experience has been very positive. The noise reduction is excellent. I usually leave one ear up off until we are on climbout and then cover both ears and turn on the ANR. What a difference it makes. I will periodically pull off an earcup in cruise just to compare and only then do I realize how loud it is without the noise reduction in the cockpit even at cruise altitude. As far as the comfort of the headset. I found the earcups very comfortable with no hot spots on legs of 2 1/2 hours. The headband fit great and adjusted easily. The boom mike was easily adjustable and did not pick up any detectable ambient noise. The cord was fine but I do wish the cord between the twin plugs and the control unit/battery pack was a little longer so it could be more easily fastened to a clip or something on the bulkhead. The cord does come with two nice clips that can be slid along its length and fastened to clips or shade rails in the cockpit. I can't yet speak to battery life. So far I have flown six legs of about an average two hours each and the batteries are still good. The provided soft case is a little bulky. I wish they provided one that was heavier duty (thicker exterior walls) yet more compact. It takes up a lot of room in my backpack. To summarize: outstanding noise reduction, very comfortable, obviously pricey but this is a capitalist society and if someone could make a better one and sell it for less they would, but if they have I have not seen or heard of it. One last thought, every few months Bose runs a promo where you get a Bluetooth speaker free with an A20 purchased through them or any authorized dealer (Sporty's). So, if you're hesitant and need to be thrown some kind of bone to push you over the edge to purchase then hold out for that and you can at least feel you got some bennie for throwing that much cash at a headset. I did but I also now wish I had bought this headset a long time ago.January 20, 2017
