Still haven't updated my post flight checklist. It's been left on for weeks before and was still going. I've had it for about 4 months, most of which time it has been on, and I still haven't changed the battery.According to the manual a replacement battery should be ordered from the same retailer the device came from. Does Sportys sell replacement batteries?BEST ANSWER: The manual says that the replacement battery should be a 3.6 V SB-AA02. But the battery that came with my unit was a 3V CR2. Which should we use to replace?Are these units pressure compensated for higher altitude operation?BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure. But this is the second one l have owned and they work great. Been to 10 k ft and had no problems.Will it work from inside a pants pocket? Plan to use it as an EMT, just in case.BEST ANSWER: I would not want to restrict the air flow in a pocket. Thanks!BEST ANSWER: I recommend downloading the TOCSIN 3 Operation Manual from Otis Instruments (sorry you'll have to do a web search - Sporty's won't allow links to other sites here). You'll need this doc for number of reasons, particularly for the re-calibration discussion. For battery replacement, following is an excerpt:
1. Remove the five machine screws located on the rear cover of the device.
2. Separate the rear cover from the front cover by gently pulling them away from
3. Using your thumb and forefinger, pull the battery out of the terminal board.
4. Slide a new battery into the terminal board.
5. Verify that the “+” and “-” sides of the battery are facing the correct direction
(and touching the battery contacts on the terminal board).
6. Place the front and rear covers together, then replace the five machine screws.
The recommended battery is an SB-AA02 (Lithium ½ AA Battery, 3.6V/1.2Ah)I have one of these and the battery lasts only a few weeks, even while it's off - which it mostly is. I've sent it back for repair ($85.) Should have sent it back while it was under warranty -- oh, well.....
