over 2 years agoWould You Recommend?YesPrecise flow air vents are just that (precise)I installed these in my 1969 C182 and absolutely love them. While they might seem a bit pricey you definitely get what you pay for. They are quality vents that fit perfectly and eliminate the drafty/noisy factory tin cans that leak so badly. Also, there is a lot more airflow and you can direct it and modulate it to your desire. Installation for both was about 20 min and I probably spent more time than I needed to clean the inside of the existing tubes. A very impressive product.June 8, 2018Purchased

Browse 18 questions Browse 18 questions and 46 answersWhat is the applicability list of the STC for these air vents?BEST ANSWER: The vents have an STC for most Cessna models from the 150 to the 207. Let me know which specific model and I can check the list for you.Do they come in different colors?BEST ANSWER: Not at this time.Does the seaplane v-brace in the c-185 interfere with the installation?BEST ANSWER: I don’t think it will. I did have to pull my wing vent tubes on my 182 out and shorten them a little. You might have to do the same but I would call the company first. It takes a little time to put them in but it is SOOOO worth it. They are so much better than the original can vents. You will not regret doing this. One of the other answers says "fits most 150 thru 207". Will it fit and be STC'd for a 1961 210A?BEST ANSWER: Yes, fit the 210A and it is covered under the STC.The original Cessna vents have an OAT temperature probe incorporated in to the vents. How do you get your OAT with these vents?BEST ANSWER: The kit comes with the installation tools for mounting the OAT in the wind screen. However, I find the original OAT to be somewhat inaccurate especially when mounted in an area susceptible to solar radiation. I opted to use an electronic probe mounted under the wing which in my case was part of my JPI 900 installation. My Precise-Flow vents will not fit into the plastic sleeves where the original Cessna vents were mounted. How can I remove the plastic sleeves so the Precise-Flow vents can be inserted?BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure what plastic sleeves you're referring to. To replace my vents, the original "can"-type plastic vents were removed and a metal sleeve remained where the new vents were inserted into. It is a tight fit and you'll need to use the grease in the kit to assist in inserting the vents. Also, a good scrubbing with a scouring pad helps smooth the inside of the metal tube the vents fit into and eases installation. Make sure you have an A&P/IA sign off on the work and fill out a 337 form as this is considered a modification. Will they fit a Cessna 1977 R172K Hawk? Also, does the kit come with some method of relocating the OAT gauge and sensor?BEST ANSWER: YES it fits well , I had it installed last year in my Cessna 1975 R172K Hawk.
Significant improvement on air flow control in the cabin, and it stays in place, not like the older Cessna original vents that kept moving around with wear and tear.
NO method of relocating the OAT. The suggestion to drill another hole into the windshield is un-aesthetic at best - there are other locations where one can be installed. Are the vents supposed to fit flush with the plastic post cover? In other words, are they supposed to be pushed in all the way so that the doorpost plastic cover meets the foam sleeve of the replacement vent?BEST ANSWER: There may be a very small gap between the vent the the door post plastic, but no more than an 1/8" of so. If there is a lot more than that, you have not pushed them in as far as you need to. It is a very tight fit and takes a lot 'push' to get them in as far as they should go.The web-site says: "Fits single-engine Cessnas with the "tin-can" type air vents manufactured before 1981". Question: Will it fit in a 1985 Cessna 172P? Thank you.BEST ANSWER: The manufacturer should answer the compatibility question.; all I can say is that it did fit my 1977 Cessna 172K and looks much better than the old vents.-Only caution is it eliminates the outside air temp gage which comes with the old vents. It means you need another source of OAT.Does installation of these vents come within the definition of preventative maintenance?BEST ANSWER: They are slightly heavier than the stock vents. There is also an issue of the OAT gauge that might be in the stock vents, and not in these. So, I doubt it, as it is not exactly an "in-kind" replacement. In our case, we had another OAT and were not using the one in the vent. We did the work, but had our A&P sign off (and do a 337 as I recall). If you have a good relationship with your A&P, then they won't charge much to inspect your work (the work is really simple - mostly cleaning) and sign-off. Unless they are going to charge a lot, and it might depend on how much, then this is WELL WORTH IT!!!! Great air flow when you want it and none (and no noise) when you don't.We have the Rosen visors installed. Will these vents clear them when the visors are in the fully forward position?BEST ANSWER: I also have the Rosen visors on my 182R and the vents work perfectly with them.
I cant recommend these vents enough, one of the best things I have added to the plane. I promise you wont be sorry! Will they fit Reims Rocket (FR172J)? Is there a way to relocate the OAT? E.g. Drilling an hole in one of the two units?BEST ANSWER: They fit my standard C182 perfectly. Would not drill into these as they are form fit tight which would be affected by holesDoes this product and STC apply to a 1975 Cessna 210L ?BEST ANSWER: Yes, it does. Will these Air Vents fit on a C-172L with Rosen shades?BEST ANSWER: Yes, they should fit.Does this fit a 1980 172N?BEST ANSWER: Yes, these will fit the 172N.Will these fit my 1972 180 and not interfere with the V brace in the windshield?BEST ANSWER: They work well in my 1981 R182. I cant imagine them interfering with the V brace since they are on the sides where the original vent were..I installed the vents, but did not need to relocate the temp guage as I have an OAT probe with my Electronics International engine analyzer. Is a 337 form still required since there were no airframe alterations, such as the drilling thru the windshield? .BEST ANSWER: I would recommend that you ask your A&P.Would it fit a Cessna 150L?BEST ANSWER: Yes and the STC includes the 150.
