Works as designed
This unit works just as expected. I've had one for the 172 for quite some time & it still looks new and works just fine. There's not a whole lot to it but it beats climbing up & sticking a wooden paint stirrer in the tank & looking at the level.

Pros: Being a high wing airplane this is much easier then pearing down into the tanks. Cons: None Good buy and easy to check fuel left in tanks.

Pros: Very Easy to use and read. Dropped it once when climbing up on the wing, no chips or scratches. Cons: Should come with a rubber grommet and strap, so you don't drop it into the tank. (no, i didn't do it yet!) Very nice product, and helps give some comfort in checking actual fuel burn in the 1979 Cessna I'm renting. Tip, get a grommet from the hardware store and slip it over the end with a peice of string to put around your wrist.

Pros: Better than your electric gas gauge! Many old Cessnas have un-trustworthy or inaccurate electric gauges. Don't take chances with on fuel on board. Cons: Be careful not to drop the stick into your wing tank. It's happened more than once. Fits in your flight bag. Carry one with you at all times.

Pros: An excellent way to end fuel quantity guessing. My FBO only fills to 75% for W&B (Cessna 150, 152). Will be great for cross countries when accuracy really counts. Cons: None None

Pros: Who fills Cessna 150/2 tanks to the brim only to have an unknown quantity leak out that poorly designed vent? Not me. I don't guess how much usable fuel I have, I measure. Cons: None really ... but some techniques give better results. See comments below. The plane should be level, as in flight, for most accurate results. I try not to rock the wings (i.e. slosh the tanks) when climbing up to take a reading. For best results, I insert the tube gently to the bottom of the tank and pause a moment until fuel stops bobbing up and down inside the tube. I take three readings per side and expect all three to agree. I then include total usable fuel in a log book along with oil level, hobbs time, date, and pilot initials. I confirm this data as part of my formal preflight. Last note, I never step down from a wing without first putting the fuel cap back on, completely, even if plannig to add fuel, etc ... because distractions occur.

Pros: Pretty idiot proof. I wouldn't take off without using it to check fuel. Routinely check it against fuel gages, and when we fill up. Seems to be quite accurate. I rated all 5, except durability 4. I end up ordering one about yearly, because for one stupid reason or other, I break them-drop it, step on it, etc. It is only plastic. Not the products fault.
