In the relatively quiet environment of a jet flight deck it was not necessary. I first tested a Clarity Aloft headset, but found the pressure of the ear plug inserts fatiguing and the mike difficult to keep in position (it did have great noise attenuation and sound clarity however). I settled on the Pro-X for its light weight over the ear design and excellent microphone performance. While I have only been using it for a few weeks, the construction is rugged and I trust the David Clark brand for a headset that will provide years of trouble free use. the springs to clamp the headset on seem very strong, but once on the earpads evenly distribute the forces over the ear. I didn't experience any pressure points or ear discomfort on a recent two hour leg. The wide headband also distributes forces across the top of the head very well. The sound quality is great and the microphone works flawlessly. The ANR has little affect at the noise levels of the Cessna Citation Sovereign, when activated it seems to lower the frequency of the noise but not the sound level. I find myself using only half the time. My only other complaint is the volume level of the Bluetooth audio, I have to have my phone turned down to the lowest level or the sound is too loud in the headset compared to the intercom. In summary, I find the headset a good compromise between value and performance, if I wanted better ANR I would have to spend another $300.September 20, 2018Purchased

3 weeks agoWould You Recommend?NoGood headset for some.The headset blocks out a fair amount of sound, and does very well in an Airbus. However, with the anr on the volume has to be further increased to hear radio communications. I found this to be fairly troubling as it means more sound is being transmitted to the ear. Also, after an hour or so of wearing, the pressure against your ears creates very painful hot spots. If you are used to on the ear headsets this probably is not a problem, but for me was difficult to suffer through. And I do mean suffer.September 1, 2018Purchased

I expected the ear cups to be smaller, but they feel fine. The noise cancelling beats our older Telex brand and I love the auto shut off feature. I don’t use the Bluetooth much for music but I do like the ability to place phone calls via our WiFi using the headset. The guy I fly with says he notices sounds from inside the airplane that are of a higher frequency, like clicking pens or seat belt latching, that sort of thing. Says it will take some getting used to. Overall, a good investment. Can’t beat the free Sporty’s shipping!July 5, 2018Purchased

For some reason I make jerky head movements and the headset would shift. Very comfortable and great quality. I bought it for the on-ear design (instead of over the ear), thinking it would be easier with taking glasses on and off. I was right - much easier than with the over ear Bose I tried before. It works perfectly fine on a jet flight deck or in a Cherokee Six. The weight is wonderful, I can’t tell you how nice it is to go to a lightweight headset after wearing a bulky light speed sierra for over a year. Incredibly comfortable, especially if you wear glasses an on ear headset is so much nicer than an over ear as it’s always sealing. My big complaint is the ANC control box is bulky and looks very cheaply made compared to the lightspeed. The other problem is the battery cover. It’s a bad design. It’s easy to accidentally open, and it automatically removes the batteries! A simple standard remote control cover would have been much nicer/more ideal. I wish the headset was more expensive and a bit more polished. DC should really step up its game on essentially their flagship headset.June 1, 2018Purchased

You will be happier with an over ear fit to increase the passive noise cancelling.
